I know I have read the tale in the past .. for whatever reason I can't find the thread.
The time has come up as a point of conversation over on the S2000 board ... and their is someone who does not seem willing to accept it ... just thought I would cross post the two threads and see what happens as it is a slow day for me ...
Thanks -Steve.

No, the quickest I believe he ran in a stock S52 was 13.7 or 8.
But Dave took a loaner S52 to the track, I don't recall him driving an S54?

With that in mind, if warranty is that important to you, forget it. I don't know how much drag racing experience you have yourself, but I myself have about 17 yrs worth. I managed to put an S54 Roadster into the 12.56 range at 109.1 mph at a sea level track in June 2001. Yes, it was bone stock down the tires.
Well, he's way better than me!
With my limited experience (two passes in the last thirty years), the best I got from my S-54 was 13.8 at around 104mph.
I did okay at the lights (.375 r/t) and I was later told that it wasn't a track known for fast times (Milan, Michigan).
Dave has like 7000 launches under his belt. It's gotta help somewhere...

Sorry I've been AWOL since 5/14 guys. I've been busier than a one-legged man in an ass-kicking contest.
I had meetings out in PA on Thursday and Friday, and the local folks can tell you, that for some unknown reason we saw some of the worst traffic jams ever in the area on those 2 days, so what was supposed to be a mid-day 2-3 hr meeting with a 1 hour drive each direction, basically kept me out of the office all day, both days.
Which had me playing catch up here at the office/home when I got back, and contrary to popular belief around these parts I do have a life off of BimmerForums, and my weekend was quite busy.
I had a fight/match yesterday (I won!) and was in the studio in the afternoon.
Anyhow, if you look at my registration date here, the reason you will not find a thread about my run in the S54 M Roadster in June 2001 was cuz I was not a member here until Feb 2002.
Anyhow, it was bone stock, on the Michelin Pilots, I did play with the tire pressures, though. Dropped the rears as low as 22 psi, if I recall, and took the fronts up to 55 psi.
I launched at 4400-4500 rpms, if I recall. It was a cold day at Atco for June, it was 6/3/01. It was early in the AM. Temps around 55-60 degrees. Humidity was very low. Making for ideal air density.
Jimmy was there, this was only our 2nd or 3rd time at the track together. His 2001 Z06 ran a 12.23 at 117.1 mph that day, he was bone stock, too.
We got a few runs in. My first was a 12.72 at 108.5 mph with a 1.90 60'. 2nd run was a 12.65 at 108.9 mph with a 1.87 60' ft. And the 3rd was a 12.56 at 109.1 mph with a 1.82 60' ft.
Obviously, it was the launch/60' that got me the ET's.
Kickass times

not to rain on any parade, but it does sound like which ever track you ran that time at, would be considered a "fast" track. Here in texas, I have *never* seen a stock Z06 run 117 mph traps stock. The power is not there.![]()
Good job Streak, not only by you but also the S54 to run 3 tenths off a Z06.

With the wind pushing behind, with a cool nitrous oxide wind storm blowing into the intake, and at a race track in New Orleans the S54 M roadster can run low 12s.
The Z06 can trap close to and even higher than 117 MPH in stock form, heres some times taken from Ranger's sig on http://www.z06vette.com

Ryan, Atco is known as a "fast track" for sure, it's sea level, and well prepped most days, and as I said, it was a nice cool, dry, morning....
And Brian, to add to your post, Jimmy eventually got his Z06 (a 2001 model, by the way) into the 11's with nothing more than ET Streets. His best time to date with an airlid thingie, intake, chip, and ET Streets was an 11.86 at 117.6 mph...
Back when he ran that 12.23 it was his 2nd time at the track with it, and it had 2000 miles on it....
Those are real good 60' times. I am impressed with anyone who can get a stock S54 M Coupe to beat my ETs with my turbocharged S50B32 M Coupe. That's just wild, no matter what the track temp/humidity/air density differences.Originally posted by SilverStreak

Yeah, I only ran a 13.7 at 101 mph in a stock S52 Roadster... in my defense, it was my one and only run in it (a loaner from the dealer)... I'm sure with a few more run I could have eeked out a few more tenths...![]()
