Shop Name: Exclusive Motoring
Location: 2100 NE 2nd Avenue Miami, FL
(Across from Brahman BMW)
Comments:
After purchasing HRE wheels, Yokohoma Tires, H&R Springs and Brembo Cross Drilled Rotors from MMS Tuning, i sought out to find a capable shop for the installation.
Alex from Exclusive Motoring quoted us:
$150 for the drop
$40 to mount and balance the tires
$150 for installation of the rotors
$80 for rolling the fenders
--------------------------------
$420.00
Although their service charge was higher than most shops, i decided to pay the money expecting professional service and installation (btw: my fiances 330cic was the cheapest car in his garage).
First Problem:
The mechanic working on the car informed me that the fenders could only be rolled about 1/8. He claimed that there exists some form of a rubber material between the fender and the actual chasis of the car. Thus, we were being charged for fenders that were not completely rolled. We later learned that the mechanic knew how to remove the rubber material but did not do so b/c he "would of been working on the car till 7pm" (his quote).
2nd Problem:
As my fiance drove her car home, she began to hear a clacking noise coming from the rear. Not knowing the source, she guessed it was the springs that had not yet settled in. This matter was cleared up at night when Kevlar inspected the car and noticed that the rear caliper was loose. Furthermore, the source of the clacking noise became more apparent when inspected the following morning in sunlight. The rear caliper was rubbing and scraping the inside wall of the rim.
We immediately contacted Alex and received instructions to drive the car to Exclusive Motoring on Monday (2 days later). My fiance firmly objected stating that she needed the car to transit to and from work. A few minutes later, he agreed to have the car towed on a flat bed to his shop.
-----The Car gets towed on the flatbed----
His mechanic removed the rear driver rim/tire and immediately noticed the problem. One of the 2 bolts holding the Caliper in place had fallen off yesterday on the way home. The rear Caliper was thus only held on via one bolt. Not only was the Caliper being held by one bolt, but this bolt was extrememly loose. The mechanic was able to remove the bolt with his bare hands and applying minimal force. He stated "You are so lucky you didnt drive the car here. If the remaining bolt had fallen off, you would have been in trouble."
Alex was then forced to fix the situation and managed to purchase a new bolt from a nearby BMW Dealership. He opted to repair the rim, but we requested a full $150 reimbursement for the rotor installation instead. To make matters worse, when they turned the car into us, her Pioneer dvd player was miraculously laying on the floor of the passenger seat. Of course, they claimed they had nothing to do with it, and after all the aggravation of the day's event, we just left it at that.
As if the day couldnt get any worse, about an hour after we left the shop, we later found out that Exclusive Motoring is cutting all ties with MMS Tuning because "they feel that we took advantage of the situation." After all, it was only my fiance and her little 330 CIC who could have been in danger.
After thinking about it later tonight... since they want to screw over MMS, you should call them up and tell them they are damn lucky you didn't take them to court for negligence...
Or even this... imagine this... god forbid, but the caliper falling off, causing a 20 car pileup that ended up putting a 18wheeler into a nearby building... imagine the lawsuit.
Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by hundreds of engineers that get paid thousands of dollars for something you bought at Pep Boys because your buddy who doesn't have a job told you it was 'better'?!?
I agree.. and the nerve of them to say that "she (was) taking advantage of the situation."
w/e.. That is one shop off my list
I would sue their puk ass! At least beat the shit out of the shop mechanic who did you dirty.
CHONGUS
Jerry you should definetly do something more drastic about this. Maybe Victor would back you up on something as well.

I know i should. However, i really do not want to involve victor in this matter. He needs to focus on his business and other clients.
I am just going to have to take it up the A#$ and never go to those fawkers again..
Its a lesson learned.

First of all, by the sounds of those prices, they certainly didnt do you any "favors." It is appalling to hear of a shop doing this to enthusiasts, let alone affiliated ones. I would get a lawyer friend to write them a letter for you. They might sing a different tune and lick your balls if you threaten them. You have substantial grounds to do so...
FYI they double charged you. The calipers need to come off when you are putting springs in anyway. Replacing the rotors is one bolt from that point - it would take no more than an extra 10 minutes on their part. (god forbid he stayed til 7! lol)

I've given thought to legal grounds...
However, their bank account is slightly larger (please note the sarcasm)..
And given the collateral sitting in their showroom (SL500, Hummer, 911 TT, Ferrari, etc..) they might send out a hitman for me:
I am always skeptical of exotic car dealers/shops that are not contracted by the auto companies they represent.
