I did, terrifying!!! They are checking and are going to call me back. Can't believe there are no instructions. Even so, how hard should it be? It just looks like the bracket isn't designed for this but the dealer confirmed the part number.
I know how the roadster's installs... but the coupe is foreign to me... maybe we can get a fellow couper to post a pic.....
helloooooooo coupes!

Will check back in a while. Perhaps one of the fine members will have an answer. In the meantime, gonna take a ride over to the dealer. Maybe THEY can figure this out. Thanks das!
good luck dude.... let us know what you find out... and try to document the install if you can.

You'll need to take apart the rear hatch area. I've taken it all apart to install my amplifier back there. Pictures courtesy of Ron Stygar.
1) Remove the tonneau roller/sun blind:

2) Remove the subwoofer cover:

3) Remove the amplifier cover:

4) Screw in the CD changer
5) Plug in the CD changer
6) Remove CD changer access panel from the amplifier cover.
7) Re-assemble
I have additional pictures of my amplifier install someplace. Post if you have problems. To remove the plastic expansion rivets, you'll need a square drive bit. You can probably use something else to force it out if you don't have one available.

Kinda figured where it goes and how to disassemble/assemble it again. BUT, it would help if the dealer sold me the right bracket! Of course he doesn't have the one I need in stock so either I fabricate one or order it. First going to see what I can do myself. They were nice enough to locate the installation instructions for me so I have those. It all makes sense if you have the right bracket.
Thanks guys/gals!
BTW, Part# 82-11-1-469-440 is NOT the correct install kit for the coupe. You need 2 brackets which are identical. The part number for the CORRECT bracket is 6512-8 369 727.

Not too terrible, it's in. Used a spare kick panel I had from of all things my dish washer. It was black plastic coated and pretty rigid. Measured 12 times, cut it to size, made a few bends, drilled a few holes and done. chazzy's instructions are pretty accurate but even if you got the dealer's bracket you will still have to remove the amplifer mount to mount the changer. It also makes it a lot easier. That's about the only thing I would have else to offer.
If anyone ever needs the dealer's instruction sheets, I got 'em and can fax 'em.
Pretty cool though, 6 disks in the back and one up front. Not bad for $270 off ebay![]()
Glad you got it all figured out, yes, I love have access to 7 CDs!![]()
do u know the part # for the cd-changer that you installed? did u buy it off of ebay? was it used or new?
also, are these brackets that you used universal for the mcoupe or specific for the cd-changer? does part number 6512-8 369 727 contain 2 brackets, or do u have to place 2 orders for part number 6512-8 369 727?
if you fax the instructions to: 413 622 2843
thanks
1) CD Changer #82 11 1 469 404. Got it off Ebay, used. There is one for sale right now...click here.
2) The brackets are for the Z3 Coupe regardless M or not.
3) Need to get 2pcs of part #6512-8 369 727. Each sold seperatley approx $5.00 each.
4) Will look for them but if you look at the links posted above by chazzy you'll be able to do it just the same.
I just installed a CD-Changer into my M-Coupe. It wasn’t too difficult, and at times interesting, but overall worth it since now I have access to 7 CDs and didn’t have to pay the dealer approximately $1000 for the CD-player/installation. I bought the CD-Changer from E-Bay for $199.99, and the brackets were approximately $7 for two. It took me approximately 4-5 hours.
Here is what you need to install:
CD-Changer Part #: 82-11-0-028-760 or 82 11 0 026 418 or 82 11 1 469 404
Brackets Part #: 6512-8 369 727 (You need two of these) – don’t let the dealer tell you otherwise. They don’t seem to know.
10mm Socket Wrench
4mm X 6mm Screws (8)
4mm Washers (8)
2mm X 12mm Screws (4) with washes or #6 Screws that are 12mm long with washers
Phillips Screwdriver
Mini Screwdriver
1) Pull out the black snap on plastic pieces on the sides of the tonneau roller/sun blind: http://www.unofficialbmw.com/images/...3c-5147145.jpg
2) Next use the 10mm socket wrench and pull out the nuts and remove the tonneau roller/sun blind.
3) Pull out all the expansion rivets and using the mini screwdriver kit.
4) This will allow you to pull out the plastic covering over the subwoofer (left side) and the amplifier/cd-changer space (right side) and allow for exposure.

5) The 3 panels between the seats and the amp/subwoofer needs to be loosened for better access. The smaller right and left panels need to be removed and the larger middle one needs to be loosened. Unscrew the screw on each side of the smaller right and left panels . And pull out the screws the three panels together.
Pull out the 6 black screw covers behind the front two seats and unscrew them.
another pic demonstrating detachment of the panels
6) Now pull out the right and left panels leaving the middle one alone.
7) Disconnect the subwoofer connection and the larger of the two amplifier connection
8) Undo the bolts that anchor the subwoofer and remove them and then pull out and remove the subwoofer.
9) Find the 2 cables that need to be connected to your CD-Changer. On my M Coupe it was entangled in black shoe lace, but I fished through it and found the 3pin and the other multipin connector and connected it and tested the CD-Changer.
picture of the anchored CD-Changer
11) Reconnect the amplifier and reinstall the subwoofer and reconnect and rebolt. Place the 2 side panels back and reattach and then the subwoofer and amplifier covers (make sure you keep the little window open for the CD-Changer and finally rescrew the the tonneau roller/sun blind.
This should do it. Sorry about the out-of-focus pics and the low-resolution pics.
:
sorry, make this #10 its out of order
10) Connect the brackets to the side of the CD-Changer with the 4mm X 6mm bolt with washer and then bolt on the 4mm X 12 mm or #6 screw with washer to the frame under the amplifier
Nice job documenting the process. Found that if you have a universal socket you can get the amp mount out without having to pull the panels and the sub by just loosening the sub's bolts a bit. Although with the sub out of the way it is easier.
