I did a search and didn't see a how to on this. It looks simple, but if your like me the first time you went to tackle it you looked underneath the car wondering how the hell you were going to do it.
It's BMW part number 51112268644
You can get it from mileoneparts.com for $61. Kinda steep, but worth it.
After years of use yours will look like this once removed.
So first remove your underbody panal for ease of removal and access. Of course this is easy when yours fell off on the highway like mine. POS in which I will replace later on.
Now you lift up your hood and look down on this.
Those plastic nipples are what juts out from bumper on the backside, and it is held into position by spring clips (washers with a hole and cuts in it). More than likely you will be missing a few, don't worry. Grab your flat head screw driver and pry them off gently like so.
Best to use 2 screw drivers as to not rip off the plastic nipples. Anyhow, now that they are all off, simply push the item to the rear and drop on the bottom. Put the new piece on there and with what spring clips you have push them back on to the nipples and you are done.
It's pretty easy, and it looks great.

Thanks for the write up fellas; I'm getting ready to get my bumper cover painted and this thread confirmed what I wanted to know about replacing the lower grille...
