This is just an FYI. I searched but did not find any comprehensive info on this site. Found it on another site and thought others could use this here.
If your rear windshield washer leaks fluid at high speed, you need this check valve. The problem is caused because the air pressure is drawing the fluid out of the hose at higher speeds. The P/N is 61688391402.

Man, that was like, Mod #1![]()
I did the "mod" some time ago but lately found the washer did not work for the rear and I assumed the hose had come off back there...yet no water down the rear of the bumper....so tore off the rear cover ( I do love the expensive sound of the plastic snaps snapping ...though none snapped this time ) and no problems there.
Digging around to see if the 5 l cannister was leaking I found it was intact but by moving it to have a look underneath the black plastic hose had hardened to the point of being brittle and was leaking big time.
So I've replaced it with a rubber wiper/washer hose that is larger o/d and doesn't look quite right but it should work.
Cheers,
Alan
How about just removing that ugly hunk-O-Junk and the line.
That is my weekend project this weekend........
BMW E36, the new Honda Civic of tuning.
I brought the coupe to independent BMW mechanics four times to get rid of the annoying water leak out of the rear wiper arm. A week ago they put in a special order check valve and guess what, the leak INCREASED big time.I said, "Screw it!" brought it back one more time, and had them disconnect the water line at the tank and plug it securely with a bolt and two tie straps. Voila, no more rear leak.
