Thumbs up How to install Rogue Engineering rear shock mounts - by noobs for noobs

This is the first real change I've made to my car. I had the usual squeaking behind the seats and decided to do the swap to new RSMs. I settled on the RE mounts and did the swap on Saturday. It was as easy as everyone says it is. Still, plenty of people out there seem to be intimidated by it, so I took pictures of the steps and wrote it up because neither the directions that come with them nor the Bentley manual covered the whole procedure. All you experienced people feel free to critique it and I'll update it. If you're reading this and are nervous about doing the swap, don't be. It's easy and only takes a few common tools.

Thanks for the write-up! It looks like a pretty straightforward job, but it's very nice to have an illustrated walkthrough to let you know what to expect.

What does this mod do for you? Is it simply to replace a worn part or does it enhance the ride?

In replaces a really inferior stock component of our cars. The stock shock mounts have been known to actually allow the end of the shock to pierce your soft top upon failure. Can't say anything about ride enhancement other than eliminating squeaks and rattles associated with worn out stock mounts. I have to think that the improved design would also reduce the stress on the flimsy metal at the mounting points.

So this is different than the urethane bushings?

Has anyone done this type of write up for the Coupe?

Urethane bushings are normally suggested to replace the stock rubber Subframe bushings.

You can also replace the stock control arm bushings but most post say this is not necessary unless it's a dedicated track car.

Fellow noob digging up a 12 year old thread through google search. Links are all dead and the OP hasn't logged in since 2013. By any chance, does any one have this or can anyone point me to a new thread of the same info?

Thanks but I have a roadster so it'll be slightly different. I read a few other guides and rogue sent me the directions before purchase. I was mostly interested in understanding how they install with the studs into the wheel well but now it makes sense after seeing the directions they sent me (uploaded below). In their for sale photos, it shows the RSM's completely together so it threw me off. The top reinforcement bracket goes up into the car and the threads down into the wheel well and then the other half is mounted to the shock. Should be a fairly straight forward install next week.
