    Finally installed my factory windscreen

Well, almost 2 years after purchasing it from a member I finally got around to installing a factory windscreen in my hoopless '97.

Pretty easy but my only kunundrum was that the brackets seemed to be labeled backwards. The one with the white "L" went on the passenger side and the one with the white "R" went on the drivers side. It was the only way I could see to make them fit, and matched what I saw in another thread. I might have messed it up, but they fit and work properly sooo.....

Also as a side note, don't break the little tabs covering the screws behind the oddments box. I broke two of them and thay are about $10 each.

    Passenger side:

    Driver side:

To do otherwise would have been more confusing.

I wondered about that. I guess that makes sense. Thanks.

Total déjà vu for me as I performed the reverse procedure a few years ago when I uninstalled the Type II screen from my 97 Montreal Blue in order to retrofit roll hoops. For some reason my mounting posts were labeled the opposite as yours.

Those little screw covers are now $10? That must be the most appropriate name ever as they were about $5-6 when I did it.

Your thread is what I referenced to figure out why L&R were backwards. I finally just decided to match the positioning on your picture and figured someone had labeled my posts wrong.

The funny thing was, I broke the left and center screw covers, so when I went to order them I had to stop and think do I order the left (passenger) or right (to match the posts) screw cover. It was $8 for the left and $10 for the center.

I got mine from a forum member a while ago, but as I was ordering the replacement screw caps that I broke, I found this on ECS Tuning:
    http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-Z3-2.8-...ible/ES196334/

So it looks like you can still get them new.
