    E46 M3 6-speed swap into an M Coupe

    http://www.eatsleeptinker.com/2013/0...-e368-m-coupe/

Let me know what details I might have left out, or what question you may have. I want to make this helpful to others, since I wasn't able to find much in the way of a consolidated how to.

Bear in mind that my car is undergoing quite a few other modifications, so I haven't had the opportunity to drive it yet. Fingers crossed.

Thanks for doing a write up. It's one of those things I'd consider doing in the future.

I actually took measurements after installing the transmission. The shop wanted specific measurements before they would do the work. That said, everywhere I've read, it says 4". The driveshaft has a slip joint, so you can have some wiggle room.

Nice write up--makes it look simple. So, what was your total out of pocket for this job, and a detailed cost breakdown?

Really the hardest part is removing and reinstalling the transmission, so the difficulty level is really no different than a clutch job.

I used http://car-part.com to find a low mileage transmission. Expect to pay $2-2.5k plus freight.

The other parts were from Bimmerzone.com. Just email Vincent and he'll give you the prices. I don't want to say exactly the cost, because his prices might have changed.

Somethings I did aren't absolute requirements (RE SSK, Delrin bushings, RE transmission mounts, clutch lines, flex coupling) but nice to take care of while at it.
