I'm new to this, so forgive any mistakes
I recently purchased a 2000 Z3 Coupe 2.8 This is my first BMW . After checking multiple websites, and calling Thule,Yakima, and S. Atlanta BMW. I cannot find a company that carries a roof rack system for my car . By system I mean, towers or feet and cross cargo bars specifically made for my year and model car . Can anyone out there give me advice ? Thanks, Ken
Here's the best the manifesto has to offer at the moment: M-Coupe Bike Racks. What's available? And post pics of yours!
Thule model 753 for the 3-series can be modified to fit. (the slots need to be cut in more since the coupe roof is so narrow).

I have a model o thule that fits without modification I paid a lot and later I discover that almost all universal for 3 series fit properly and cost a lot less...
Be patient and buy an OEM system.
I sold around five of these. They are superior in everything. Comes with exact sizes, torque tool, protective film...,
And of course, the rare bling factor.
I'll keep you in mind if I get more.
I have one.
sent you an e-mail
I am getting ready to buy the Thule 753 for my '00 M coupe and looked up about the mods on the rear bar, no biggie to do. I do like the way it bolts to the roof and that way nothing against the paint. The question I have is what is in everyones opinion the best trays to put on top of the rack, I do some mountain biking but mostly for training for my BMX racing. What I will be carrying mostly is a 20" and 24" BMX bikes and I really don't want to remove the frt. wheels. I mostly use my van to carry my mountain bike so it would rarely be on the rack. There are so many different ones and any advice would be helpful as I'm getting ready to purchase it.
I went ahead and ordered the Thule 753 and it is on it's way, I went ahead and got the Yakima frt. wheel loader trays because it says it will work with 20" wheels and doesn't touch the frame so no worries on my bike's paint. Seems like a good quaility tray, better be, they are not cheap. Can anyone show some pics of the mods on the rear bar that I need to cut to get it to fit the coupe, hoping to get it installed for this weekends state quailifier race. Thanks in advance!
try a search. once you see the bars and how everything goes together its very simple to see what to do and to do it. takes <10 min with nice cutting wheel.
I also mtn bike a lot and use fork mounts and full upright trays. with fork mounts its better to have the bike facing backwards, that way you can open the hatch all the way. trying to get more full upright trays so I dont have to switch btw cars. also doing a mod to the rack this summer so I can put a rocket box on top in addition to 2 bikes, or 2 kayaks.
Thanks for the reply, Bcar! I will look at it when the rack gets here, should be here Friday, hope so because I'd like to install it Sat. for Sunday's race. I'm sure I'll be able to figuire it out but pics never hurt either to look at and it seems as this is "the rack" to have on the coupes. Glad I did some research on here so I knew what to get. I thought about the fork mounts but I'd rather leave my frt. wheels on and my bikes use 20 and 24" wheels so they are not as long as my mountain bike with 26"ers. Thanks again and if anyone else wants to chime in please do!
no prob. you'll see the slot on the bottom side of the cross bars, you just have to make it longer on the rear bar, I used an angle grinder and it ate it up like butter.
Thanks again, sounds like it is super easy. I can't wait till it gets here and get it on the coupe, my wife on the other hand thinks it will be ugly on the car. I'll just be glad to be able to drive it to the races on the weekends, I rarely drive it but on weekends and with racing season here she never gets driven at all. it's like a bonus to drive it, then race and then drive her home, win, win!
Thanks again for the help!
I picked up a Thule 753 last spring off Craigslist for $100, came with two bike trays too! Keep your eyes open, mine came off an E46 M3.
