Don't get me wrong, I think it's great that prices are holding up but $20k for S52s, really?!
98 Cosmos 77k miles $19,950
99 Alpine 42k miles $19,950

More power to them is what I say. Cartel prices for Roadys!
Be thankful prices are on the way up. KBB also has inflated prices. My 2002 is now worth over $17K according to them. It was only $12K 2years ago. Lot's of $12K to $15K 3.0s with 80Kmiles out there. So, I think $17K for my 40K miles car is right on For an M at $20K? Well the $ is geting more worthless now due to the fed policies. I can't believe we don't have Carter 20% inflation. $20K today is really only about $14K in 2005 money... probably less.

For the amount of money I keep putting into my S52 replacing stuff, there's NO WAY I would ever sell it for $12K unless I smashed it up.
2018 X4 M40i
z3s in new england are stupid expensive, a 2.3 would be 14k
No matter how you slice it, the S52 appears to riding up the other side of the value curve, having bottomed out a couple of years ago. S54's have been on that track for 3 or 4 years now.
Its all about mileage and condition, these cars are more and more collectable every year. That Alpine is one I would have, and manage usage carefully, try finding another one in that condition. Don't get me wrong I think cars need to be used as they were intended, but I already have one highly modified for a Track toy so If I had to own two of them to keep one pristine, whats the harm. Tie up a little storage space and see what you have in 10 years.
Traded my subaru for my 00' M coupe with 82k Earlier this month. Subaru was probably worth 14k. Extensive work done to that car though.
The bumper gap on the AW under the the passenger headlight seems a bit sketchy.

I think your car is a steal, at least to an enthusiast. I was drawn into the Z3 family due to the M, but your car is better than a stock M, in my opinion, and by the time I get done getting my M where I want it I will have spent close to what you're asking for yours and still be left with stock S52 power.
Back to the OP: My car has high miles (over 160K when I bought it) and the trunk floor spot weld issue is present, but I got it for just over $7K so seeing these $20K cars makes me feel like I got a bargain.
