Relative to the actual and historic copyright laws of this country - probably not nearly as much as might think. Thought the recording industry and the lawyers would have you believe that everything and anything can be copyrighted; there are no excepts to that and there is no fair use clauses. [and this is pointed out by someone that makes a living producing copyrighted material - and finds the level of BS so far over the top.]

If you'd like to read up on the history of copyright, initially, why it's in the constitution, how it has/had been corrupted by Valenti et al etc. You might find a copy of Moral Panics and the Copyright Wars by William Patry - if you ever meet him: he's absolute scholar and gentleman - now, and has been for 10 years, Google's senior copyright counsel, before that for three decades as a copyright law lawyer. The book is very much not a light read - it is a scholarly work - but most insightful and worth the time and effort to plow through it and follow the logic, history and arguments. Of note: our copyright laws are now about 2 sigma more restrictive than the rest of the world... and would have gotten even more so if SOPA had passed. Likewise, the ever more restrictive crowd seems to losing case after case after case, when they actually get before a judge - the only one's there "winning" are pretrial settlements and where they're claiming for $100b in damages and 1m years of jail time etc.
