    Spark Plugs

Can a 'knowledgeable" (of course every one here is) person tell me the difference between plugs
ie: what is the difference between NGK BKR6E and BRK6EK and BRK6EQP?
    I HAVE 4 BRK6E 's can I use them in my 96 1.9/5 133,000 miles?
    tnx daniel

The BRK6E has a 1-ground electrode, and the BKR6EQUP has a 4-ground electrode. NGK lists them for the 6-cylinder engines but not the 1.9.

The only plug that NGK lists and recommends for the 1.9 is BRK6EK

This is not because plugs like the 4-ground BKR6EQUP or 1-ground BKR6EIX Iridium will not work in the 1.9. They work but do not have the correct resistance which can cause misfires and is also hard on the coil.

The 2-ground BRK6EK is the only plug that NGK itself recommends for the 1.9 engine. NGK emailed me that the BKR6EK is specifically made for the 1.9 -- with a 6.0mm firing position, two ground electrodes and a 1K ohm internal resistor to be compatible with the output of the 1.9's coil pack.

The other plugs that NGK lists for the 6-cylinder engines have 5K ohm resistors, compatible with the individual plug-mounted coils of those engines.
NGK said the 5K-resistor 6-cylinder plugs may cause random misfires in the 1.9.
