Aggressive front wheel/tire fitment; Whatcha got?

swappin' to roadstars for track duty, decided to play around with a few things

    18x10 et 25 RXII 265/35 up front

surprisingly doesn't fit too bad (GC camber plates at -2.0 )

Anybody else running anything interesting up front? Let's see!

If i were actually going to run this setup, i'd definitely be trimming my fender liners, and probably running a 255 tire.

I've got some pics of the rear roadstars on the front as well, i'll post those up later (quite a bit more agressive lol )

Are you running a BBK and/or spacers? PO on my car put 225/45s on front, too much sidewall, bla. thinking 245s or 255s/35-40 when these are toast, but have to run a 10-15mm spacer due to the BBK. Camber plates should help.

I bet those tires will self-trim the wheel liners if you ever go near lock given that width and diameter. 255/40-17's can rub a little on 17x9's even with spacing. It's all liveable though. I'd really like to fit a 275/35-17 A6 but think a little rolling would be in order.

Ive got 18X9 et 35 with a 255 tire. looks pretty good to me! It also helps the car feel so much more planted. Function over form!!

I'm running hybrid, so the same range as race, just with that extra bushing for noise

Want to trade? I have a practically brand new set of race

Car looks good though, but I'd run more camber and wider tires. It'd be Awesome!

I like the self trim comment. Funny, but true. When I had my car low, my wife was asking "What's THAT noise?" "Tire enhancement of clearance tolerances." I'd say.

I'd like to build a set of 17x9.5" wheels for the front and rear. A monster square set-up for autocross. 245/40/17 would be my tire size choice all around. I have this on a rear set and like the wheel/tire ratio. The rear fitment is easy in that width, the front's on the other hand... Definitive, correct info is elusive. TCKline with Vorslag camber plates on my car. Anyone running this size without spacers? Offset? Backspace? I have seen some 18" talk, guess if the OD is the same?

^Sorry, i'll keep 'em, thanks for the offer though!

camber plates are maxed at -2.0, which i believe is probably -2.5 beyond stock camber? not sure

ok so here are the pics of the rear roadstars on the front, yikes haha

17x9 et8, 255/40 tires. I feel like i'd have to dump down to like a 225 to actually use this wheel fitment, it's out there!

Honestly, with such small tires on a 9.5, you should be able to run 10" all around with 255s (should be similar to 9.5 / 245), front offset/suspension adjustments just need to be pretty perfect

Running 18x9 et30 up front with a 245/35/18. Not the most aggressive setup out there but the fit is perfect with zero rubbing at full lock.

Lowered but by no means slammed. Running the minimum amount of camber on Vorshlag plates. Have to get it aligned so I don't know what the angle is.

^yup, 9 et30 is a great front fitment for our cars, very nice.

Seems like most "wide" front setups are 9, maybe 9.5, wearing 245-255 tires. Pretty curious how many people are running greater than 9.5 wheels and/or greater than 255 tires

9.5 et30 / 255 is the widest front setup i've really run with (both street and track, worked out fine)

    I think for a street/show setup, 10" should work fine, 245/255 tire.
For track use i'd like to experiment with 17x9.5 265 Nitto NT01

I'd love a 10" up front... but at the rate my tires are wearing with flipped hats and full drop- I couldn't justify the yearly rubber costs.

Seriously- not even 10k or miles and camber wear has got my tires almost slick on the insides.

haha yeah....the unfortunate cost I suppose. Toe at zero helps

ok so 3 sets of wheels are required lol :
    -track fitment
    -show fitment
    -street/daily fitment

yeah- i never got this guy aligned. That may explain why it tracks to the left (hard) on the highway.

But it also needs new links and bushings up front and they're sitting in a box- so before they're installed it would be pointless to get aligned. And by the time I get an alignment it'll be one hundred twelve below zero outside. /firstworldproblems

    ^THERE WE GO haha

I remember your car, was hoping you'd post up

    18x10.5 et 13 + 12.5mm spacer
    285/30/18

AND a spacer lol, pretty epic, that extends MORE than an inch past the rear roadstar fitment i posted above.

Of course, there's this front widebody too:

    http://www.coupeaday.com/2011/04/23/...car/#more-1717

Would be cool to see someone produce a 6 piece front widebody kit, something you could rivet on for race purposes, or mold-in for OEM-ish look. Obviously you'd need to rethink fender liners, those plastic fascia alignment brackets possibly....

Kinda like some of the DTM Fiberwerkz stuff, just better fit / higher quality, and something that could almost be mistaken for a factory BMW piece:

Also, Rob's coupe is riding on 18x10s in this pic, obviously pretty low offset (wish i knew what it was) and his front is "pulled" 1/2". Not sure if he just tweaked the hood, or what...

Is there a company that sells some of those pieces on the front bumper? Side aero vents and front splitter? I also love the aggressive dtm look.

My biggest problem with this fitment has been finding sticky street tires in 285/30/18. 35 series tires, of which there are many choices, are too tall. Will have to make some serious inner fender modifications to make that fit (I tried):

I do not yet have a budget to address the body modifications I would like to do to this car. I have plenty of ideas though, some similar to those above. There are a few elements that appeared on this seasons alms GT cars I like too that I would like to incorporate.

I do have inner fender liners on the front, they are however heavily trimmed to minimize any rubbing. Had to break each one down to three pieces to accomplish that. And I still need to trim more from behind the front bumper just forward of the front tire, I still get some rubbing near full lock, especially under compression.

So lots still to do to make it work better. I have much of the mechanicals working pretty good and that is what is most important for having fun.

It's an after market front hood (Race USA iirc) modified and with added custom flares. Much of the inner 'structure' on the backside of the front bumper (directly fwd of the tire) has been trimmed out. Left just enough to keep the front facia from flopping around

Rear fenders are just rolled at the moment, but I really should pull them too, I have a little rubbing when autoxing or on track. Running the same 18x10.5 et13 wheels in the rear. I have a 15mm spacer back there, I like the look, but really do not need it unless I want to run a 315.

Kabel, have you had any experience with Nitto NT01s? I really wanna try them but sizing is kinda limited...

    they've got 245/45 17, 255/40 17, 275/40-17, and then it goes straight to 315/35 17

    i'm thinking 255/40 on the front with a 9 or 9.5, and 275/40 for the rear on a 10 or 10.5

....almost tempted to roll 17x10 (et25) 275/40 square lol

    sizes really aren't ideal though
