    Coupe rear deck spoiler

OK, I thought I had a lead on the OEM rear deck spoiler for my Coupe project - the one that goes below the rear glass and wraps onto the base of the C-pillar (Pt #82110004278).
I think this is the one that Wertles has on his rebuilt car.

Well, My lead didn't pan out and they are, of course, NLA. Has anyone got one they are willing to part with?

Mpire, do you have one stashed away that I can pop a mold off of to make a few? I'm willing to come to your place to make a mold.

Any interest if one turns up and a few are made off of that pattern? It seems there is a lot of interest in the ACS spoilers and Aero sills, but not these pieces.

If replicas are made, and the price is reasonable, I'm in for one! I've long regretted not buying one when they were only $224.

Agree. I'd rather have the deck spoiler than the others.

I spent $500 on the one I bought for my uncle's car and didn't hesitate. It was new in the box. He had been looking on eBay, junk yards, Craig's list etc for 2 years and never found one. If it didn't involve ripping apart half the car to remove it, I'd be more than happy to lend it out for a mold. Keep the eyes peeled. One is sure to show up again eventually.

Do you know if the wing is all bolt on (thus requiring removing trunk interior trim)? holes have to be drilled to mount? Thanks!

Yes it is. Actually it is a combination of drilling holes for studs and adhesive tape. There is some interior stripping to be done as well.

went throught this drill months ago

I've been after one since I bought my car.

I actually have a donner who is willing to take one of their car and loan it to me with a security deposit and payment for an auto body to remove and reinstall after making a mold. Along with a free unit for thier trouble. Looked at various options; Materials - Carbon, ABS, Fibreglass, also with and without cut out for reat wiper.

Can it be done yes, but the cost are prohibitive, 3 seperate molds, covering the cost of the donner, the reaction I got from the community was that it had to be cheap and not enough people to amortize the cost to so so.

If one surfaces anywhere, I'll be happy to work on getting them made. I have all the sources lined up to do so in the US.

IIRC, the installation requires some drilling into the body. I can't see you doing that to your coupe Maybe if you had a spare hatch, and use adhessive for the side pieces?

    Holy $H!T wtf???? Really?

That seems crazy... what if you want to remove it? And in WHICH way is double sided tape not enough? I understand drilling holes for a luggage rack - but drilling holes for a cosmetic spoiler?

Installing that part seems like instant depreciation

Honestly, adhesive tape would probably be enough, especially if a replica was made using a lighter weight material. No drilling should be a requirement for a replica piece.

And FYI, I'd be in for a replica of one of these (at the right price). I've been on the look out for an OEM one with no success.

Right you are, Rob. I wouldn't drill. I trust that 3M VHB would be more than adequate. Adhesives have come a long way in 13-14 years. Just the same, you know I want a spare hatch.

Spoilers (the real ones, not looky-do's) are intended to create downFORCE at speed. So yes, a positive means of attachment is required.

Does your insurance cover objects hurled at following motorists from ill-attached (and owner installed) cosmetic devices?

    Poseurs need not apply...

Hey, Roady-guy -- Don't you have a Coupe to maintain in your garage-mahal, or a margarita to sip in your pool-cage-of-science?! Leave the fun to the kids, good sir.

If tape is sufficient for install, and the price is right, I'd be interested in a replica. The factory spoiler has a certain "je ne sais quoi."

And, I've seen pix on Wertles' lovely BG Coupe so I know precisely what to expect if I were to "go there."

    You mooned me...

Turned the corner on this one last night, it was a bit of a mess, poorly melted back together for a quick sale I think.

    (over-spoiled, in my opinion...)

Holes required for mounting studs + double sided tape and removal of interior trim in order to tighten the nuts on the studs.

    Bingo!

It's a special box, with holes punched to clear the studs
