235 for the front, and some have fit 275s on the rear. I'd do 235/255 or get bigger wheels if you want bigger tires.

From what I've read and searched on here, it seems like anything bigger than 265s is not a good idea for rears...and some claim 265s for rear are pushing it. I think 255s are safe for stock rims.

For the fronts, I would say 235s..

You should be able to go wider then 255, hell I put 255 tyres on 18x8.5 rears on my old 1.9 an they fit flush.

No rubbing? I'm on coilovers. And that was 235/45 & 255/40 correct?

Please remember that bigger isn't always better, ie faster.

So just because a wider tire will fit doesn't mean it will have more grip. The problem when a tire is too wide for a rim is that is squirms and the feedback can become vague. Also if 235 is about max on the front you want to make sure the balance of the car isn't upset which is why some even go with a square setup.

Are you going with street tires or track tires?

Sorry OP, not meaning to tread jack. Hopefully this information will be useful for you as well.

I'm going with a street/track tires. Hankook rs3's. Looking to get the best grip on a circuit.

    Thoughts?

StarSpecs are supposed to offer better life, but a little less dry grip.

Honestly, if you have the cash, grab the APEX ARC8 wheels. They are going to be the best bet, they are lighter and wider than the roadstars and allow you to expand on tire sizes.

I wouldn't go higher than a 235 for the front and a 255 for the rear. Any wider and it is just detrimental to performance. If you want fat tires and no performance loss, wider lightweight wheels are you best option.

    Coupes...
I have 265s on the SG, 285s on the EB.

But gordon is running 305s on his roadster.

The issue is that the wider the rear tires over the fronts the more understeer you get.

Fronts will hold 245s with spacers, and thats about it. I run 235s on all my cars.
White is Right, Steel Grey is OK, but Estoril is the only color that truly matters.

    I like Coupes.

    Several
I ran 235/255 star spec, but went with super sport in oem size and prefer the way it drives now. Felt more stable, and quieter. Doesn't look as good, but handles better. Street driving.

For those of you running 235 up front, are you running 235/40 or 235/45? A lot of people recommend 235/40 but the recommended wheel width for this tire size is 8-9.5" and the stock front rims are 7.5". Anyone running 235/40 up front on stock rims? I'm considering picking up some Nitto NT01's in the 235/40-17 size since they don't come in 235/45.

I have 245/40 up front and rear. I've been running that for a while now, but here pretty soon I'm going back down to 235/40 front and 255/40 rear. I don't like the feel of the square setup.

don't forget not all tires are the same, some run smaller then they say and have a narrower contact patch

grab some tires from different companies but same sizes and you'll see

You can run 255 up front if you have adjustable camber. I run this with no rubbing, search forum for details.

Have you experimented with different tire pressures? When you say you don't like the feel, how does it feel? Since they are on different rim widths did you feel like the tires don't grip the same? Is front fitment on stock suspension, no spacer? I'm kind of interested in trying the 245/40 on the front roadstar.

The rears with 245s is what feels weird to me. Ever since I've owned the car I've ran 255s or 265s out back so that could be the reason I get the floaty feel right now.

As far as the fronts go, I'm on Koni/H&R sports and the only time I've had rubbing issues is on full lock turns or u-turns. I may stick with this size but I do need to replace my wheel liners now
