    Give me headaches

Question 10 thing you HATE about your e36/8?

What are 10 things you dislike about your e36/8?

Here are 10 things I hate about my 368:

    1) Other drivers love to tailgate me. From kids who want to race to people who are just curious. Luckily it’s pretty easy to get away from them.

    2) I sometimes worry about the rear floor. After this upcoming winter though, I doubt that will be of concern anymore.

    3) When a bigger vehicle is behind you at an intersection when it's dark out, their headlights hit both side mirrors perfectly. Blinding at times.

    4) Even in the slightest sprinkle, if I even crack my windows I get drenched. Maybe I should install those rain guards?

    5) I always thought the 368 was simply a gorgeous car, until I bought one. At times it can look so awkward and almost goofy. Luckily most of the time it looks dead sexy.

    6) On a trip over several hours, it starts to get cramped. I’m a bigger guy, and it’s hard to stretch out while driving on a long trip. Stopping for breaks is a must for me, but who wants to stop when your driving one of these cars?

    7) By nature of being a hatch, the back end gets so dusty as soon as you drive it. Not quite a deal breaker haha.

    8) Did I mention I get drenched if I crack my window open while it’s raining?

    9) I want to keep the miles low, but for some reason that doesn’t seem to be working.

    10) ………… I’m all out, can’t think of anything else even remotely bad about it.

For something more positive, look HERE.

    So what’s on your list?

    1. Doesn't feel stable at speed (probably my tires/Suspension...or short wheelbase)
    2. Looks Akward sometimes at some angles
    3. Rear suspsension noises
    4. Not enough power (bought a 2.5, my fault)
    5. Too many squeeks and rattles
    6. People have dinged and banged up my doors
    7. Always to hot for top down weather
    8. Not stiff enough
    9. Fuel economy. When your car has the aero of a brick, it's to be expected. But...low 20s in the city to slightly less low 20s on the highway...come on.

    1. Gas mileage. My best tank ever was 24 MPG. I really wish this car had 6 gears and that 6th gear being really really tall.
    2. Weighs too much for its size. The weight difference between a MCoupe and an e36 m3 is < 100 lbs.
    3. Can't fit 4 wheels/tires in the car (I can barely fit 2 in the hatch) You can fit 4 wheels/tires in an e36 coupe.
    4. Non adjustable steering wheel

Imole e36: I don't think they make window visors for these cars...they would be a cool thing to have so rain stays out but fresh air comes in.

On the roadster, having to put a towel or something padded in the fold of the window when I put the top down. On the coupe, the way the windows don't go all the way down flush with the sills.

Why is that? Extra renforcement in the doors?

Haha, but in your case we (368s) didn't necessarily "1-up-ya."

    1. Sun visors don't do squat.
    2. No sunroof cover
    3. Window sticks out even when down all the way
    4. glove box sags more than....
    5. Sunroof button keeps popping out
    6. No steering wheel adjustment
    7. Intractable interior noise
    8. Rear hatch gets mad dirty mad quick
    9. Homicidal triangular windows that attempt to de-face you when main window is open.
    10. "oh, that's a cute Mazda!"

And now I'll state the following....
    I love my car.

    1. It rattles more than a 20 year old Kia
    2. It's loud and creaks
    3. All creaks freak me out leading to believe the rear subfloor has torn out
    4. The stereo is essentially garbage
    5. It's uncomfortable on long drives (try 1900 miles in two days...)
    6. The sunroof doesnt open... let me rephrase that: It's useless
    7. The interior is made of paper and is falling apart (like all 90's bmw build quality)
    8. driveline clunk
    9. that stupid stupid tiny bit of window that stays exposed where I cant comfortably rest my arm out the window
    10. I worry about it all the time for various reasons (parking, maintenance, probability of it spontaneously combusting/exploding)

    But I love it.

This one. Man, how many times I've folded mine down only to realize... yep. This was a horrible design. I'll just let the sun pierce my eyes as I drive off a cliff.

    1. Drivers window regulator bracket is broken and the passenger side regulator is starting to go.
    2. Ratlles like crazy.
    3. Feeling every slight inperfection in the road
    4. Glove box is sagging
    5. Rear gets dirty the second you washed your car and leave your driveway -_-
    6. The heater not turning off even though the knob is at 0
    7. All truck lights blind the crap out of you through all mirrors.
    8. As previously stated, sun visors dont do sh*t lol
    9. Drones out the ass
    10.

Dispite all these imperfections it has been by far the best car ive owned.

LOL e36/7's share just about everything on your list. or not sure which... If you stop by at our fix it this weekend, we can remedy your glove box.

oh, and #5 is shared with my MINI Cooper and just about every hatch on the market.

    Coupes...
I don't find any of your arguments to be valid.

Most are either problems with the other idiots driving around you, or things that you have to fix on a 10 year old car.

I don't have rattles, or rain intrusion, or issues of any kind that I can think of.

The only thing I would be complaining about if I were you is that you don't have time to do the basic maintenance and that you don't have Estoril.
White is Right, Steel Grey is OK, but Estoril is the only color that truly matters.

    I like Coupes.

Glad you cleared this up ,because some of the coupes on here to me seems tip top, so I was having a hard time comprehending why they have the same probs as my fixer . Whew!

Love my roadster -- but with the soft top up, I think there are some awkward angles....

But with the top down -- BEEEE-UUUUU-TAAAAAA-FUUUULLLL!

I was gonna say...looooooooooooooooooool. seriously, some of those things are what gives the car character!!! but you can definitely fix them, just open your wallet and let the cash flow...

P.S. I do have Estoril...and Sapphire (but changing this to Jet Black)

    Funky odor from airconditioning.

My previous 528 also had the same funky airconditioning smell..no matter what fix you do, it comes back!

My friend had the same problem. He found an air freshener he really liked and put one on either side of the air conditioning intake in the engine bay. It cleared it up for a while and then it takes 10 seconds to replace them when they wear out in 2 weeks. Also try giving the entire engine bay a good wash, that smell is more than likely coming from chemical or plastic smells under the hood.
