I have had several people tell me I have a special edition car. As its second owner, I'm not aware of what is special about it. It's a 98' 2.8 Z3, red exterior, black leather with red pipping, chrome light knob and a chrome button on the hand brake. Does anybody have any info.
Thanks,
Mike G
I know that there were special edition 98 2.8's in yellow w/ yellow piping on the black interior, but I've never seen the same thing on a red car. I don't really have an answer..........but I'd love to see pics![]()

Is it like this but in red? From what I've read only the Dakar ones were special edition, but maybe you purchased it from an owner who customized his to be similar

Yes, you have a special edition (technically it's an "Exclusive Edition") car. Yours was sold as a "Christmas Edition" and I believe BMW made 200 of them. Yours is like the Dakar EE car, but red.
Congrats. Take care of it.

Haven't seen that before- neat.
Suppose my car would look pretty silly with Blue piping on tan leather though.
You're in Buffalo eh? You should meet up with Tom and I someday in the falls or something.
Modifimied Z3 2.8
Faster than you think
It certainly looks like mine, the Christmas Edition. I took my VIN to the local BMW dealer to have him look up what type of options my Z3 had. They told me it had "all options" and showed the word "Christmas." Anyone in this situation should be able to easily verify their special edition with a local dealer.
Nice zombie thread revival! Pics or banned!
8 Year Old Thread Bump...nice.
Does everybody else ignore threads older than one year or is it just me?

Well seeing as this thread can never die, does anyone know how to repair that piping on the seat bolsters? I have the Dakar special addition, but the piping on the drivers seat is in bad shape. Is there any way to repair or replace it? I don't think I could find the correct seat to replace it with because there were only 300.
