    evosport underdrive pulleys for s54

got them installed today. stock i put 274.6 @ the wheels yes i am as shocked as you guys. the only reason the guys at the shop could think my car had so much power was because my car started out life as a "press vehicle" and those are hand selected to be the best, so the press has a better impression of the car. after the pulleys were installed another dyno run revealed 284.9@ the wheels. i will have dyno charts up tomorrow. i dont have a scanner at home. Evosport is developing a cai for the s54 and when we did a run with it on my car it revealed 293.4 @ the wheels. im very happy with my car today, my car has dynoed higher then most (if not all: m3's). i will probally be testing exhaust in the near future, and my goal is 300@ the wheels with the cai and exhaust. www.evosport.com for details on the pulleys.

That's weird your car would dyno higher than most M3's. M3's should be pushing about that number, assuming a correction factor of 1.21. 274.6 is just a tad under 333. Maybe for the ///M's, they overestimated this time around....

My car pulled 272 hp. 275 hp is nice, but I don't think it's out of the normal range. I may have had more power in there if the DSC didn't kick in at about 7,100 rpm. I could have sworn I disabled it for the operator, but maybe he restarted the car when I wasn't paying attention? I'm not certain. I believe most M3s dyno over the 280 mark.

How is a cold air intake going to help when the car is sitting static on the dyno machine with no air flow feeding into the intake?

I'm not shocked -- but I suspect you were on a mustang dyno.

We were surprised about Chris's M-coupe as well.

Out of S54 cars that we have run in the shop:

    2002 M-coupe - 264HP,
    two M3s were - 275HP
one at 297HP (SS header, Superchips software and UD pulleys), two at 255HP (possible VANOS problem)

Cars seems to be varying significantly from one to another. If one uses 15% as drivetrain loss, than M-coupe should be at 315x0.85=268HP, and M3 at 333x0.85=283HP.

The CAI intake makes power by reducing air flow restriction from stock air box.

Wow those are some awesome numbers...congrats! Also when a car is generally on a dyno there is a fan blowing in front of it to simulate movement and help keep it cool so there is cooler air for the intake there.

This thread reads like an ad for evosport.

    Any actual proof?

Care to share the make of the dyno?

Sorry if it seems to come out as an advertising. Not the intent.
    Just trying to share R&D.

The dyno is DYNOJET 248C and Chris promised to post the graph shortly.

    Nice numbers.

    Were those SAE corrected times?

I recall Newport Beach/Huntington beach weather is a lot better than most places, therefore your dyno numbers will always be higher.

    I dynoed at 279 rwhp / 243 rwtq in L.A.

    My only mods is exhaust.

I guess its because of the color of my car, that would explain why I dyno so much higher than any S54 M Roadster/Coupes :p

Check out the torque numbers.... oh yea

Hmm, looking at that dyno, it looks like your intake really made the biggest improvement after 7K, where theres a jump in the powerband.

Coolbeans. This is the first time I've ever priced out S54s to see how much it would cost to "upgrade"

Man, that is just not fair.

Seriously, I called EvoSport about that CAI, and they said it was several months away. I understand development work, but if they have one, how far away are they?

I've been contemplating the pulleys for some time -- thanks for the gentle nudge to my wallet.

I'm doing the Ferris mod -- just got notification from Chris @ Crevier BMW that my euro headers were on the UPS truck. I'm going to go with CarSound cats, then experiment (for torque) with either my current dual setup, or a nice collector and single muffler. Hopefully the single muffler will make more torque and not lose too much top end -- I'd like to shave the 25pounds for the extra muffler.

My car on the dyno (dynojet I think) made 284.6 hp and 242.8 torque. I didn't know the DSC trick, so my charts are topped out at 7K rpm.

The only mods I've done are flywheel, 3:23 final drive, and dual magnaflows.

Looks like with the CAI, pulleys, and euro headers, I should have enough to put me over 300.

Has anyone tried the plasma coils? That's my next trip.

Cool info everyone. Wish I could scan my dyno sheets.

Hey eurorides, I have the TCKline flywheel. I could be completely wrong here, but I think it's the same one they sell for the S52 motor. Anyway, it *did* come from TCKline, and it was 11lbs - the stock one was around 20.

Yeah, you guys better get that thing out here before I build my own. I bought the factory housing (with MAF) and plan on making some sorta filter and box with it. I'd definitely wait EvoSport's had more air flow...

Actually, I'm really interested in seeing the entire graph. I'm an autocrosser and don't wanna sacrifice any low end torque. If anything, I'd rather have the same HP, and 300lbft of torque.

    At 2000 rpm

18 diam, 10.5 width, 7 backspacing, all the way around. 22lbs each, plus I needed spacers because there was too much backspacing. Just bought new ones (same size) with only 6-1/4 backspacing, no spacers, plus titanium hardware.

what exhaust are you running? and also what (if anything) did you do to re-enforce your suspension, a few people were talking (on 368s) about the fact the cars shock mounts/spring perches arent strong enough for an agressive spring/ coil over setup. i plan on going with coil overs...or maybe a setup similar to mtv in the near future, but i want to make sure my car will be able to take it. thanks.
