99% chance for the ins. co. to total it.
that's some serious damage you got there. you could fix it on your own for 3-4k by getting used parts from junkyards/friends and such and then putting them on yourself but i dont know about that quarter panel ... they usually cut them out and put new ones in which is a pain and the car wont be as safe anymore.
insurance will give you around ~7-9k for it which is enough to find another nice 325is with lower miles than what you have on that one ...
good luck !
look around the frame and if you even see a ding, it will be totaled. from the pix, i think it will be totaled. on another note though, khymotorsports.com has free shipping on its Rieger parts!![]()

Go for the 944, this would be a nice time to jump into a Porsche
stjobs
Does anyone know of some good porsche forums? I know of rennlist.com but thats it. I would like to read up on them a little bit. Does anyone know the specs offhand for a turbo 944? Also would insurance be comparable to my 325is? Man I wish I didn't have to make this decision![]()

www.dtmautohaus.com offers a nice E36 carbon fiber hood.
any updates??? hope your neck and back are OK! max
I dunno if you found out, but stock 944 turbo (non S version) puts out 217hp. 0-60 times I cannot give an exact one because not many ppl are willing to burn their $1200+ clutch to figure it out. I've seen modded 951s do 4.5 0-60. Mid 13s is a good # for a barely tweaked turbo.
Pelicanparts.com also has a good webboard with 944 and 944 turbo owners.

he had mentioned a 944 S2, not a turbo. big difference in price and performance. '89 S2 0-60= 6.5 seconds, top speed 140+ mph (stock) . a stock turbo will knock a full second off of the 0-60 time, and top speed will go up 20 mph!! the 944 S2 is a four valve engine (earlier 944s were 2 valve) and the torque peak is at 4100 rpm...so you have to keep the revs up to have max. fun!
Personally, I'd stick with the BMW. You think a bimmer is expensive to fix/mod try a 10+ year old Porsche. With the write-off you could easily find a 93-5 325i and still have a couple g's left for mods. Just a suggestion.
Thanks for the reply's guys. My neck was a bit sore for a few days after the accident, but I'm fine now. I think I'm going to look for another 325is or maybe a 96-97 silver 328is. The only way I would get a 328 would be if it was silver, because I liked the obdI that my car had, but silver is such a pimp color. We're still waiting for insurance though, they can't get ahold of the guy that piled on the end in the accident
: Hopefully they can get ahold of him soon.

Your car will definently be totalled. I had a 97 328i conv and my trunk was exactly like ures, no other damage and insurance totalled my car. I was very luckey they did that though because now im rolling a dinan stg 3 98 m3 around town![]()
I wish I could upgrade to a m3 right now, but insurance would RAPE me. I'll have to wait until I get a bit older, plus it will give me something to look forward to.

I had a 944 turbo for 3 years....see http://wes.nicolas.org/951.html
Unless you have a lot of money on the side for repairs, I would not suggest any Porsche, especially a 944. The S2 is no cheaper than a Turbo.
You should be able to pick up a used 1995 M3 for around $15K
Good luck,
Wes

wouldnt insurance rape u worse for the porsche then the m3?
For me insurance was no more expensive....but then again it depends on many factors such as your age, driving record, marital status, location, etc.

Maybe it would, I never really looked into the cost of it as I decided to stay with bmw before I got to serious about a porsche.Originally posted by LT 325is

Hey hope you okey... But when the insurance company declare you car total. You can buy it back from them (most will let it got for $500 or less). Let me know the price to buy from them and I'll take it off your hands, that if you don't have any plan or you just don't have the time to repair it. Sound good?
Sorry not to sound like a vulture..
Its cool man, they wanted $2000 for it and this happened a few months ago. It's already been sold.

I feel for you. I think it's likely that your insurance will total the car. It doesn't look like a lot, but body work has a funny way of getting out of hand. I think that the back could cost as much as $2000 (assuming that your crumple zone hasn't) and the front would probably be more. I think that you could get into $5-6k range pretty quick. My insurance co totals a car at 80% of market value.

Damn man.. That really sucks..
Not to be mean, but it isn't that bad.. With the trunk smashed in like that just get a 318ti badge on the trunk.. lol
When I looked at the rear pics I thought, it kinda looks like a 318ti, lol..
Your front doesn't look so bad but that rear is a biggie.. I would sue that guy that rearended you for personal injury or something like that.. heh
good luck
