installed new rear upper arms:
bad ones:
also what is this for? its threaded on the inside. found next to the rear exhaust mount.

and I saw this on my lower arm bushings, does this mean they are bad?

alignment is on the list for tomorrow during lunch.
and now that I replaced the uppers, It feels like the back end moves side to side a bit when turning over bumps. maybe something else is bad. I didn't see or find anything that looked bad though.

It could also be your rear wheel carrier bushings/ball joints, they've been known to allow side-to-side movement when they're bad.
1995 540i 6-speed - Thread
Radiator install went great, total of about 6hrs start to finish. including replacing the alternator. Huge shout out to TxDarth for install help. made things a million times easier.
It took 2.5 gallons of coolant to fill the system. I'm guessing there was plenty still left in the engine as I did not drain it completely. I "burped" the system by squeezing the hoses to fill it up. and get the air out. then after test drive, cranked heater up to full and ran for a few minutes, the heater core took about 1" worth of coolant from the expansion tank. Drove it to work this morning, no issues!
Here are some wiring pics (Similar to TxDarth, just not bolted to the radiator shroud, instead I secured everything to the brake cooling duct)

Next time I am under there I will clean up the wiring with more zip-ties. I only just realized how messy that looks.
NOTE: MY BLUE ARROW DESCRIPTION IS INCORRECT. THE YELLOW WIRES GO TO THE FUSE, THEN THE FUSE GOES TO THE 12V SUPPLY AS SHOWN IN THE DIAGRAM ABOVE. THE ORANGE WIRES GO STRAIGHT TO THE 12V SUPPLY BYPASSING THE FUSE. I DOESN'T MATTER IF THEY BYPASS THE FUSE BECAUSE IF THE FUSE OPENS, THEN THE RELAYS WILL OPEN AND THE ORANGE WIRES WILL NOT TRANSMIT POWER TO THE FAN....

NOTE: AGAIN HERE, THE YELLOW WIRE GOES TO THE FUSE, AND THEN TO THE RELAYS. THE ORANGE WIRE GOES TO THE RELAY CONTACTS (ONE FOR EACH RELAY)

Ooohh I like your engine bay!
just screwed in my tow hook.....looks as though the started has crapped out on me.
I turn the key to START and all i hear is one click, then cold blistering silence.
Had to get a jump yesterday from work. grabbed the multimeter out this morning, battery shows 12.0 volts with engine off (which I thought was a bit low). I called AAA to jump me so I can go get another battery, cant get a jump start! and the starter still only clicks once. AAA guy says battery tested good and its probably the starter. so now waiting for a two truck to bring me to a shop to replace either battery or the starter, hopefully not both...

I think your wiring diagram is off on the low speed relay - contacts are switched. The low speed would not work correctly as shown. The sensor feed should go to the relay coil not the contacts as shown. It would probably blow the fuse if you actually wired it this way.
The high speed looks OK...

Sorry to revive such an old thread guys. I recently acquired this car and I am so glad to have seen all the information on the car!
Currently has 203k miles and still running strong.
Lamer321 I had a few questions for you about the car. Hope your still active on the boards!
I'll post a pic soon
Don't know about Lamer321's whereabouts but I'm surprised that Silvio sold it. I've never (really) seen the car but understand it to be in great condition -- even tried to get my son to buy it but Silvio had already grabbed it. Didn't realize it had so many miles though.
Is Silvio a board member? Not sure if he was the previous owner who I purchased he car from as we didn't talk much about forums. Although after reading the thread I have a few questions maybe Lamer will be able to help me out with since he knows this car so well.
I have a imola red that I am currently prepping for s62 swap. I wanted to drive one around for a while to see the difference after the build is complete.
My shop has already build one and this will be our second build. The imola is a shorty but I figured I should be able to recognize the difference of overall handle and performance spending enough time behind the wheel.
Unfortunately the imola was purchased with a blown motor so I have not has a chance to drive it or experience the car prior to starting the build. Chassis has only 124k miles and is in overall great condition.
I am a previous m5 owner and recently my car got totaled during the ice roads we experienced in Texas. Summer tires and Icy bridge do not mix 😢. I purchased the car back from the insurance and will be using it as the donor.
Once we are complete with that we plan to convert this one to Manual.
Should be exciting!

Silvio owns Silvio's Auto House in Midtown (Tuam St). I have never seen him post here. He bought the car from Lamer but may have flipped it.
Good luck with the conversion.
He last signed in to the forum in 2020. Do you still have the VIN for the car somewhere? I've had luck using a VIN in Google to find it's current location, and sometimes the owners name.
