quality has improved significantly, considering I was on 175K miles suspension that had been bad for some time. its not a bouncy, not as loud, handles better too. I'm very happy.

I'm so happy to hear! It looks great. The clunk is gone? It sounds like it was in your shock mounting hardware.

had a great weekend in Glen Rose, Tx. Played a little golf, drove through the Fossil Rim Animal Park and got face to nose with a few Ostrich, deer, and a ram.

Car drove like a champ, though I still need to inquire about this ticking from underneath (I hope its a guibo and not the previously mentioned CATs)

I am also looking into the Zionsville radiator kit, I just about need to replace all of the hoses/tubing anyway (they have gone soft, and are probably deteriorating) and figure this will be a great piece of mind install. definitely don't want those fan blades flying, after all they have 175K miles on them! and it will cut back on that turbine noise every time I accelerate.

anyone have thoughts on this kit in particular?

I totally missed the post where you describe what kind of clicking it is, but if it's similar to when you put a card in the spokes of a bicycle, that's likely the diff. The guibo is just rubber, so I'm not sure how much that can lead to clicking per say. My diff spontaneously combusted at 60 mph after clicking for a few weeks. Luckily it didn't take out anything in the meantime.

I'll try to get a sound clip this evening. if its the diff, and isnt a simple fix, then i'm probably going to try and get a M5 diff....it would be a little sooner than planned, but in the end still on the "Want to-do" list

My touring is getting that card in the spokes of a bicycle ticking at anything over 2k RPM. It never really stops, but at highway speeds the road noise seems to drown out the sound. Could that be my diff going bad?

looks awesome, suspension is the next thing on my list. your iL has SLS? a little more tire in the back would perfect it. changed all the hoses on my 750 too, got a factory replacement radiator, though.

Mine was the rear CV joint. The grease dried out and killed the joint. New cv joint, repacked with grease, new csb and guibo as well went in while the driveshaft was out...

so I have the ticking at idle, i havent checked to see if it speeds up as I accelerate, thats next on my list for this weekend.

it it NOT a 750, the B&G springs drop every corner 1.5" so that's why it looks low in the rear. I like it, and I think when i put spacers on it will bring more of the tire out. My only other option is to get the H&R stage 2 springs but those have a MUCH harsher spring rate. I havent ruled them out, just didn't want to go too harsh too fast. Plus the H&R would drop the front another .5"

For radiator just replace the hoses if they're old and check the date of the fan clutch... Be prepared to have new hose clamps when removing and of the old original ones fron the smaller hoses... Get ready to bleed bleed bleed air...

going with a Zionsville radiator so fan clutch be gone!

    ....hose clamps.....great call.

yea I squeezed the hoses the other day and they are all soft.

I do need to research the bleed process a bit as I have no idea how to do that.

The bleed process isn't complicated, it's just time-consuming because you have to bleed the engine, let it cool down fully, add more coolant, bleed it some more, and repeat. You have to make sure it's done right because you'll overheat otherwise.

Still curious how cars that rolled off the assembly line were filled with coolant once and ready to drive.

Probably using some proprietary tool that's super specialized and expensive. Every BMW job is easy when you have a $500 tool to do it!

Upon painting my calipers red, I found that my caliper piston seals has become free to move about however they please...I will have to order some new ones, I really dont like taking brakes apart though, really makes me nervous when putting them back on.

Also, my Zionsville radiator arrived! couple of teaser shots....really well packaged, extremely well welded from what I can see so far. waiting on FCP euro to ship my new hoses and ill start this install next weekend!

You have the 18x8 on the front though right? I want to put the 18x9.5 on the front so the width and offset may require spacers for what I want to do...

    New Plan!

wasn't able to swap the wheels last night, should be able to today.

    NEW PLAN:

    buy 2 more jack stands,
Jack up car on all four corners,
remove Bilstein Tourings and B&G springs,
put barely used shock mounts on fully functional stock S-EDC suspension. (probabaly going to sell the complete, functioning set once I've decided I like the new set up....)
    return touring shocks to FCP,
use store credit to purchase BR Series Coilovers (contemplate swift springs),
    winning stance
    America
