I have it an I am very satisfied. I don't have a working camera at this time, but here is it with the green lighting:

The amber matches the BMW amber almost perfectly. Other than pictures, I can answer any questions you have about it.
is there any way to get the lettering to get the buttons to match the bmws (ie paint them black) or is there some kind of kit?

i am really diggin this unit and that BioLite display looks kick ass
and ilike the features it has
if u can maybe borrow a digi or something email the pics to me:
atog@tampabay.rr.com
if there are any other questions i have, i'll probably PM u
o yea, and on the alpine website, its listed under CD players
whats the difference between MP3 players and the CD players (as per the alpine website) will this play Mp3 CD's (you know the ones with like 200+ songs on them?)

NO. The only parts that go amber are the input buttons. The only buttons that do not change are the telephone hangup and telephone pickup buttons. The biolite portion stays the one color regardless.
how does it look in the car?
I think it looks great!

Though I did get a deal, it wasn't anywhere near $500. If you are willing to move right now, there is a reputible car audio reseller in my area that has an opened 7998 that is going for $497 IIRC. Its opened, but you could upgrade to the 4 year exended warranty, so that even if you spill water on the unit they have to replace it, PM me if you want info on the store (they do 50 state shipping).

Yep, it sure does.
I'll see what I can do about some pictures for you.
The 7998 plays MP3 CDS as well as normal CDs. It also has an auxilary input. Bear in mind that you will have to get an amp, as the 7998 has no internal amp. The MP3 CDs will actually read out title, artist, and album info if you have your ID3 tags filled out.Originally posted by atog

so then whats the difference between the MP3 decks and the CDA decks on the alpine site?? :-/
what does an auxilary input mean? what can i hook up with that?
this is what im thinking for my system:
Alpine 7998 up front
2 JL 12" W6v2
dunno what amp yet.. maybe 2 500/1
another amp for the speakers that i will be replacing..
probably JL components around the cabin
