    *SPORT MODE 'clean install'*

    Sup folks...

here are all the parts that are required for a clean install as recommended by Daniel (dwm).

I'll be following these guides for a portion of the install:
    http://www.rfdm.com/SportMode/dme.html
    http://www.rfdm.com/SportMode/clusterLamp.html

after that, I have no idea how to integrate all the other wires, connectors, and the ASC switch. What I do know is that connector .173 will draw power and ground from the DSC button's connector. According to dwm, I'm basically building a Y-cable to power Island's module, plus a harness for the ASC button.

If someone has installed their sport mode using similar parts, it'd be great if you could post a DIY guide. Help a brotha get his sport mode hooked up!

It's really not hard to do at all. The trickiest part is building the Y-connection to hook up the ASC switch, but take some time to map/draw it out on a sheet of paper and it will not be difficult.
I'm headed up to So. Cal. in a day or so, but I look forward to seeing your completed install! You'll do fine!

EDIT: Here is basically what you are building. Please excuse the mess, this is my prototype harness so it is not color-coded and uses generic non-BMW connectors, but it works just fine. At the bottom is the original DSC connection. The harness splits the power connections for the switch illumination, and two additional wires go up to the controller and to ground.

Sport mode only applies to coupes/roadsters with the S54 engine, ie year model 2001 - 2002.

For all y'all that are going this route with sport mode, please document what steps you took and take pictures if possible. I'm so eager to hook this ish up, but the problem is that I don't have a solid set of instructions to follow.

The last thing I want to do is fry the ECM, DME, etc.

Bumping something back from the deal that probably no one cares about at this point, however, scouring the internet, I've not once come across the following info.

When installing sport mode using a second ASC or DSC Switch and IslandS62's controller, you're left with a bit of splicing to do off of the original DSC wiring plug.

Probably the nicest/cleanest method to wire sport mode was suggested by Daniel and can be found on his website:
    http://www.rfdm.com/Daniel/MRoadster...essAdapter.php

I went and tried to find that Sullins header and the part number is discontinued and required a bit more hunting. I also thought there had to be a better way.

After looking at realoem.com for the ASC/DSC pug (61138380696, Part #4), you quickly notice part #5 (61136925611) that could be the female counterpart to part #4. All of the associated pins you need for those sockets and terminals are there as well:
    http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...61&fg=15&hl=12

I've literally never heard anyone mention part #5 there and did a ton of hunting around on the internet (in april of 2013) and found a bunch of folks using it for other reasons. In particular, there is this post:
    http://www.xoutpost.com/935008-post1.html

    It shows the following pictures:
Harness a guy made with on each end:

Harness he wanted to splice into:

Harness disconnected (one side looks familar!):

His harness connected in series with that connector:

    So then doing some logic:
If we call the two pink ends A and B and the two Green/Blue ends C and D.
    A fits with B
    A fits with C
    B fits with D
Then C must fit with D

Therefore, the mate for 61138380696 must be 61136925611.

Thus, if you ever wanted to wire up sport mode or clean up your existing sport mode wiring, 61136925611 is your new friend.
    PN 61136925611:

    PN 61138380696:

Searching part ending in 611 returns no results on this forum. I did come across one thread on on bimmerfest where Stygar mentioned it, although, no report back was made on how it went. I'm not sure if the picture in that thread was included by Island or if someone else had come across the part.
    https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sh...ht=61136925611

Anyway, I'm about to do this install again as I'll be ditching my Conforti Software for a custom dyno tune now that I have Euro Headers installed. Maybe this is something people already knew or have been using, but it hasn't been said outright anywhere on this forum.

I've bought part 61136925611 and all the other stuff I'll need to make a nice Y-Harness. I'll report back if what I'm thinking is wrong!

Idea for wiring this up nice and cleanly.

Okay, so you made me look; dust was pretty thick on the top of this box, since most of us did these mods a loooong time ago.

I think my car was the fourth (4th) Coupe/Rdstr so modified; the guy (Karl?) with a Coupe up in Canada, Stygar/Corey about the same time and mine.

I remember faxing the pinouts to Stygar from a hotel while Sue & I were traveling (to either South Carolina or Florida__we didn't go much of anywhere else).

Daniel gave me a list with quantities; I didn't ask questions...

It was supposed to be enough for his car, my car, plus another local guy's and Jay Lilley's Rdstrs__we only did his and mine, and we were making it up as we went, I'm not sure if Daniel ever did the final wiring diagram or not (mine was altered__fewer connectors were needed, because the pigtails on the pins turned out to be long enough to make some of the runs...).

Well I guess I could have waited a week and just bought some of your supply when I come to pick up my car! If we're feeling ambitious, maybe we can build the harness I suggested a few posts back before I depart!

Thanks for posting this up to the top. Id like to clean up the wiring on mine as now I just have cylindrical connectors on an old ASC button packed with plastic to keep it all in place.

Guess I'm off to get some connectors. Randy, let me know if you'd prefer to unload some surplus before I go order something at the dealership.

I've got islands last controller on the way to me Monday.

His father will make more if we can get 10 people interested.

Lots of new folks around these days, however this competes with tunes like conforti, etc.

If you're a purist and want sport mode and the light to illuminate, this is the way to go.

I'm interested from the standpoint that now that I have euro headers and cats, I need a tune that will blow away my conforti software that really just puts sport mode in normal mode.

Once conforti is gone, I'll 2ant sport mode.

I know the tuner can keep that throttle map, but I kind of want it to work the way it was meant to!

    - - - Updated - - -

Also, this is about a $150 job, not sure what conforti costs, but a tune is $500. Value suppers may be interested.
