As title states, I have an m30b35 from a 1991 535i that will be parted out. The engine had a freeze cracked block on cylinder 3 next to the freeze plug. Car started, idled and ran, but was seeping coolant out the side of the block.
All parts will be cleaned before shipment. Please ask me if there is anything small you'd like, because for the time being I'm only going to mention larger parts or parts that require machine shop work.
As mentioned, certain items will go to the machine shop prior to sale. I will not accept money until parts are proven non-damaged, If damaged i will update post/buyer. Examples of damage are clearances out of spec, pitting, excessive wear and or rust damage.
I have a very nice hookup at my local machine shop that does amazing work for a modest price. Maybe i can save someone some time and money on machine shop work.
Buyer will pay for shipping.
Items not for sale:
Camshaft (might have too much wear, unsure)
Valve cover
Lower timing cover (The one that has the crankshaft front main)
Sensors (cannot guarantee operation)

Love to buy some parts off you , but just too far away unfortunately ... congratulations on doing stuff right !!! love how the parts look after the wash ... all looks very professional . Good luck with the sale .
Please post pics of the ACS mirrors. Thanks.
Just curious about that engine. Is this an abandoned overhaul with all this prep already done or are you going to invest $ in this stuff after the fact?
That block ought to be salvageable. Cooling system is low pressure, something as simple as drilling a hole to stop the spread of the crack and epoxy might be effective. Sounds like a real bummer.

Actually, I have a number of m30s. So I'm not too bummed out. I'm only building one currently. I decided to try to liquidate some of my parts due to a rising need for funds commanded by my turbo build.
This m30 was received as a part car that had some cooling issues when I received it. Said part car has already paid for itself in other parts sold. This makes me less inclined to shove money specifically into the short block.
The photos are of my current parts that i have received from the machine shop. I should have 1 or 2 sets of pistons, one 191k and one 161k mileage.
A lot of my parts are still waiting for completion or pickup due to the recent holidays and my availability.
I forget to put piston mileage in the ad but I'll note that. I have more m30 parts than I foresee using, which prompts me to create this ad. Ultimately I find it's easier to sell cleaned and proven non damaged parts rather than dirty and possibly damaged parts.
Block could be salvageable with JB weld or some other sort of filler, but this isn't my build block and I really don't have the motivation to try to find a somewhat sketchy solution to fix it. (Sketchy to me, I like being sure that nothing could go wrong, ironically I got into BMWs.)
Considered making it into a table or selling it for cheap but I don't like the weight of the iron block.

Need the fuel rail cover, throttle body cover, good condition PS pump with brackets.
Have them?
Fuel rail cover,
Are you referring to the fuel injector wiring housing above the injectors?
Throttle body cover,
Not sure what you're referring to here. A part number would be sublime.
PS Pump,
I may have an extra, but I wasn't planning on removing them due to the difficulty of moving a part car without steering.

The plastic cover atop the fuel rail, covering the wires andinjectors and fuel rails.
There is also a plastic cover that goes atop the TB, to dress thinga up.
PS on a parts car.. I did not know you parts car runs?

Opps! I read it wrong and though you meant steering box. Ill see what condition my PS is in.
Ill also get back to you about that injector wiring housing in PM.
I do not believe i have anything that covers the throttle body on any of my cars, so you may be out of luck.
Shoot. The one piece I wanted is on the list of stuff not for sale. The lower timing cover. Mine has an oil leak somewhere.

OK. I'm in no rush, I've just never been able to stop the trickle of oil that seems to be coming from the tensioner screw. I've covered it with lots of stuff and still it comes. So I want to address it eventually.

Fuel rail cover?
The throttle body cover never seems to make it after the first time the car it gets serviced. so finding a throttle body cover has now become rare due to mechanics error in the late 90's.
Ill take the fuel rail cover. Lmk.
Received new parts from the machine shop.
I now have for sale:
1 Lower Timing Cover (redfive called dibs)
1 Oil Filter Housing
1 Passenger Engine Mount Bracket
1 Driver side engine Mount Bracket
1 AC Compressor mount bracket
1 Throttle Body
Parts for sale yet to go to the shop:
1 Upper Camshaft timing cover (is that the correct name?)
1 Rear main seal housing
oh you can still get them? I would prefer no tb cover. it would get in the way if your bleeding the coolant system

I still want the lower timing cover, but for some reason I completely forgot that replacement requires doing the bitch nut. Ugh.
