Question Harmonic Balancer Inspection (photos) - Does this require replacement?

    Hey,

I noticed my crank pulley was wobbling like crazy (4.0L N62). I took it off to have a better look. There appear to be very slight hairline cracks in the rubber. They do not go all the way around and the rubber is not brittle.

Is that enough to cause the wobble? Pics below:

I cannot see a problem, but when you say wobble, is this while installed?

Also can you move the outer ring? There is only 1 way that balancer can go on, did it wobble after removal and re-install?

    Hi, Thanks for your reply.

Yes, while the engine was running.

I can't move the outer ring. Have not re-installed, I assume by your question that I should?

Yes, make sure as there's a pin for the proper location. Sometimes this pin will keep it from sitting properly, so clean it and both mating surfaces to ensure you have a proper fit.

Can you upload a video showing the wobble?
