I have a chance to buy a 2003 X5 4.4, pretty cheap. friend of a friend dealo..............
Problem is that he indicates, a head gasket is blown (not sure which side)
doing a little searching, it seem the head gaskets only go bad when you over heat the engine?
Is it ok to repair the heads / gaskets & the block will be ok?
Not too familiar with this engine, so in advance for any stupid questions.
Thanks,
NT

I've almost never heard of the M62tu head gaskets failing... if it's overheating, there might be another reason. If possible, get the engine tested to determine whether the head gaskets are actually bad or not.
Also, consider joining Xoutpost. It's a lot more lively there than it is here.
