E46 Axles NOT made in China - buy from whom?

A BMW mechanic of 30 years told me that both front axles that the previous owner put on were made in China and needed to be replaced. He emphasized that they needed to be made in Germany. I see GKN axles made in China for $70, in Spain for $230 and BMW Factory direct wants $510.

It's a 2001 and so I don't need titanium axles. Where do you recommend discount axles for for an E46 that are excellent quality?
