2006 X3, heater blowing cold. coolant full

What causes the heater to blow cold when the coolant is full?

The cause of that is restricted circulation of warm/hot coolant through the heater core..... could be an air lock in the coolant circulation system ... that can be caused by not bleeding the air off when the coolant is changed .... or by a head gasket leak allowing exhaust gas into the coolant system .... or maybe the circulation hoses and/or the heater core are plugged or restricted somehow
... forty-three years of driving before I get behind the wheel of a BMW .... and I am thinking, "why did it take me so long?"
... and then after another 4 years I can't believe that I have two of them !!

I'll start by bleeding the system. Where do you bleed on these? Is there a "how to" thread?
