After much debate I decided to part out the car. I have a buyer for the long block, but the rest will be up for sale. I'd really like to sell a roller to someone so if anyone is interested in a roller let me know what you want left on it and we can work out a deal.
So I bought two project E36 M3’s in hopes of combining parts from the two of them to make one beast of a car. However, with everything that has been going on at work (read 70+ hrs a week at work), I haven’t had the time I was planning to dedicate to the project. So I am trying to see if I can at least unload one of the cars.
So the car is a 1995 Avus Blue M3 w/ 5 speed manual, built engine and running on E85 (more details on the build below). The car does carry a Mechanics Lien Title from CA and all paperwork necessary for titling in the new owners name will be provided.
Feel free to email crcragg@gmail.com
Like I said, I bought this car as a project. Things that I have done to the car while it has been in my possession are as follows
- Rebuilt the vanos
- Retimed the cams and replaced the valve cover gasket
- Installed NGK 4554 plugs gapped to 0.019
- Flushed the engine with fresh oil and then filled with Castroil 10w40 synthetic. Only did this because the engine is still fairly new and it’s something I just like to do on an engine at the 1000 mile mark
- Installed a new SPAL radiator puller fan
- Replaced the guibo with an OEM M3 guibo
- Performed a compression test (130 +/-5psi across the board)
- Bought a new tune from RK Tunes for 115# injectors and E85 (Also comes with a tune for 93 octane that I can pass on to the new owner)
- Drove the car for about 75 miles
Onto some of the good about the car
- The chassis has ~100k miles on it.
- ~1,000 miles on a rebuilt BMW 2.9L Frankenstein M52 engine
- O ring'd block
- 8:5.1 Wiseco pistons (84.5mm bore)
- 135mm eagle rods,
- S52 Crank and cam
- Resurfaced cylinder head, pressure test and inspection
- Supertech valve springs and retainers
- ARP Headstuds
- New OEM oil pump and high performance timing chain
- All new gaskets
- Precision 6765 dual ball bearing turbo with 1.15 twin scroll housing and ~1,000 miles of use
- Custom stainless steel top mount twinscroll turbo manifold by Otis
- 66mm precision wastegate (recirculated back into the exhaust)
- Converted to OBDII with all necessary wiring, sensors and DME
- RK Tunes E85 tuning package (115lb/hr injectors, MAF, and Tune)
- Stock 1995 BMW M3 fuel system upgraded with E85 Compatible Walbro 450 fuel pump, E85 fuel filter, Aeromotive A1000 adjustable fuel pressure regulator, and E36 OBDII fuel rail
- AEM wideband oxygen sensor and boost gauge
- Tial 50mm BOV
- Full 3.5" Stainless turbo back exhaust with vibrant performance resonator and muffler
- This exhaust is built in 4 pieces each v-banded together (catback portion, catback to rear of trans, rear of trans to downpipe (downpipe ends roughly where the stock E36 headers stopped), and then downpipe
- 4" intercooler
- 3" Intercooler piping
- UUC evo 3 SSK with DSSR
- UUC Twin Disk Clutch and flywheel kit
- Front UUC Sway Barbarians
- AKG Engine and Transmission Mounts
- RallyRoad Transmission extreme duty trans brace
- Four point Autopower Roll Bar (in the car, but not bolted in place since I haven’t sourced some backing plates yet
And the not so good (remember I said it was a project)
- Having the stiff engine/trans bushings and an otherwise stock suspension results in a good amount of NVH
- The clutch engagement is pretty high up and I think the slave will need to be replaced
- There is an ABS light lit due to ABS sensors needing replacement.
- Two tunes will be included with the car due to this issue. On OBDII cars the ABS sensors are used for vehicle speed and with the sensor that is bad, it won’t allow for launch control with the RK Tune. So a tune with a speed sensor delete will be included to allow you to drive the car without issue and then when the speed sensor is fixed you can flash the tune with launch control and have a boat load of fun.
- No AC due to the turbo install
- The interior is mediocre at best (I had plans to convert it to black or completely gut it and make it a track car). No rear seats, the panels have seen better days, and the headliner is missing the covering.
- The car is a 1995 so it does have some wear and tear on the paint such as rock chipping in the front, but nothing significant and there is no vehicle rust
- Missing the front grills
- The windshield has a crack near the bottom (doesn’t look like it will spread any more)
- The trans is leaking very slowly from what looks to be the drain plug (I had plans to flush the trans and replace the plug, but never got around to it)

would you be willing to part out and sell the bottom end?
lol no need to be a dick man, i would of taken the whole motor off you, i have a turbo bmw as is don't need another but the engine setup would be nice as a back up as i plan to build the same. let me know in the future if you ever plan to part out ill gladly take the block n head off ya.
I honestly don't think I was being a dick. Personally I kinda think it was the other way around. I think it's somewhat comical that I'm selling an entire car and you asked for just the bottom end of the engine. I'm honestly baffled by the request. Maybe if you asked for the entire drivetrain and turbo setup, then that would make some sense to partout the car, but just a bottom end request is just a bit silly.

How much for the left headlight
my apologies then, hard to determine how someone is coming across when you're reading what they are saying. let me be more precise. If you ever do decide to part out your car instead of selling it shoot me a pm, ill gladly take the motor off your hands head and bottom end( also the clutch if we could work something out), hot-side and intake aren't required. it would save me a ton as i'm going to build a second motor to almost the same specs.
How much for the left reverse light bulb?
Ive put together build list after build list in the past knowing I'm cutting corners here and there while still easily exceeding the cost of this Turbo E36. Looks to be a good deal.
Bump. I've had a ton of people tossing out offers and then not following through. Someone buy this car. My HOA just sent me a letter that I have too many cars in the driveway....
What seriously??? You should see my driveway. I have 6 cars on it majority of the time.
1995 M3 S52 turbo (Sold, like an idiot) -----------------------------------1998 M3/4/5 (Hopefully turbo soon, Nope sold this too)..................................E92 335i(God, I miss the E36's)
We once got an HOA notice for grass being 1" too high (total of 4"). We were on vacation for a month.. who owns this house anyways? Lol

"Lamborghini, the tractor maker, wanted to figure out why his Ferrari's clutch kept crapping out (PITA, cost a lot of money). He complained to Ferrari, and Enzo didn't do anything. Lamborghini discovered it was the same, much cheaper clutch used in his tractors. The rest is history..."

The car does drive, but I've only put maybe 30 miles on it total so long distance driving would be up to the new owner . I'm down in the Cayman Islands right now so I can get you some more pics when I get back. Pics will show a m50 manifold, VW expansion tank by the drivers shock tower, and the piping to the manifold with Tial BOV and RK MAF
why is this still for sale?
