I have a 2011 BMW 550i with the N63 engine. It has a blown head gasket and I do not have the quoted $5-10k to have someone else fix. Has anyone replaced the head gasket on one of the 4.4L twin turbo engines? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Tech manuals? What special tools I may need? I was going to purchase both head gaskets and the head gasket set which has everything else. I am very mechanically inclined and have no doubt I can do it, but I just wanted to see if anyone has done this can can tell me what I am about to get into. Thanks!
Why do you think you have a blown headgasket? It's something I have never seen on an N63 engine, not even on an N62. It is a very involved and tedious job to pull the heads. I've done it plenty of times to replace the timing chains when they stretch. You'll also need the timing tools, and a damn good set of instructions.
