Sky
z3
Hello all,
So I know that I am speaking to a bias audience and also not sure I am in the right place but this seems like a no brainer. I have a chance to buy a 08 saturn sky redline for 6400 BUT it has 100k miles on it already OR a 96 z3 that has been babied at 66k miles. This will be my daily. The z3 is only 5k flat. Looks like a garage queen, taken on a couple weekend runs. The redline has obviously been driven but not hard. Anyone know the major differences in driving experience here. Oh, and the z3 is a 1.9 4 so I'm not concerned about the subframe issues you see more often on the 6. All opinions welcome, I need to choose like..today.
Between a 1.9 z and a sky redline, my vote is for the redline and I owned a 2.8 Z for a while. It was fun but I'm not sure even that would be more fun than a redline sky. I've read good things about it despite having way less (yes, you can have less) cargo room than the Z will.
I would drive both and see how you like the transmission. My understanding is that the gearing in the Sky is all wrong in 3rd/4th gear. Leads to dropping revs out of the power band. Could be a deal breaker for some...
Saturn sky for sure, you are looking at a 4 banger z3 (sloooooow) vs a much more powerful car. Gearing wise if it bothers you, can always upgrade later.
If it was a choice between m roadster and saturn, would be a different story in my opinion, but as it stands saturn 100%
Suspension: Bilstein Sports, GC Coilover conversion, IE Subframe Bushings, IE RTABs, M roadster sways, M roadster front control arms, M roadster Front calipers/hubs.
Engine/Driveline: M54B30 intake Manifold, Dinan CAI, ZHP Cams, Headers, Underdrive pulleys, Conforti Software, 3.46 diff.
Find a 2.8 or an M Roadster tbh

An 8 year old Saturn with 100k or a 20 year old 4 banger Z3 with 66k.
You can tell which one was obviously more fun to drive.
Guys, I went with a 2001 2.5 Z roadster 55k miles. It's perfect. Mechanically, in great shape. Interior is all jacked but I like fixing.
Sounds like a good choice. Make sure to visit the z3 section to share pictures and questions about your recent acquisition
