Have you tried the dealer? Should be a group 51 part and you should be able to find it on a site such as realism. Not sure that I would trust a 20+ year old kit that someone has had laying around and there are other really good options other than the original BMW. Tower paints had really good spray options for the base/clear that are excellent matches.

The paint correction shop has tried a few color match options with none yielding great results where he's happy with the outcome.
I thought I'd try finding the oem paint.
The dealers list it as NLA.
I have an old one form my M6 but it's old, opened a few years ago but when I used it on the M6 it was a really good match.
My hope was someone or some parts source has one or some in thier inventory which I'd be happy to buy.
If anyone has suggestions for aftermarket with specific experience with this exact color please let me know but again my preference is the genuine oem product so I don't want to dilute this thread.

I've purchased touch-up paint from http://www.automotivetouchup.com/ for several cars and always been happy with it. Buy the 1/2 oz bottle, as that's a huge amount just for touch-up, and they sell some very good touch-up applicators, too. http://www.automotivetouchup.com/sto...bbers-100.aspx They also sell larger containers of paint, and paint for spray guns, and even aerosol cans, but I've only purchased the 1/2 oz bottles.

Not sure what kind of paint correction shop you are using but it must be more of a detail and existing paint restore type operation. I have a preference for a shop here that specializes in chip and small damage restore that is very good and has worked on many of the BMWs that have set some of the high record sales marks. I would not trust the factory touch up paint to be any better than any others. Your paint has been in the weather and sun for 30 years and will most likely never match an original paint. Also; who is to say that the paint offered by BMW is still the same as the original. I would suggest finding a specialist that is a true paint restoration specialist that has experience working on collectibles and high end newer vehicles.

I may hit you up for that shop. The place its at now is a high end detail and paint correction shop, not a paint shop. They wet sanded and cleaned the entire car for me plus can do touchups which can look invisible after some additional wet sanding and clear coating plus wet sanding again but thats it. Not actual paint work. The E30 ix which is what I am inquiring on on for the touch up has a scratch on the hood that is not "repayable" by detailing. its through the paint to the primer. The car will be in GA within a week or so for the mechanical service. I'm not sure if you are referring to a shop in Atlanta, GA or if so, how far that it is from Steve's place but depending on the outcome on Tuesdays attempt I will be entertaining alternatives.

    Thanks
