Out of the three which one would you go for?
I like the e36 for drifting , the e39 I'd like to make fast and hook it up and for the e46 i'd stance the f out of it.
Out of all 3 which one is best as in mechanical and has good aftermarket parts supply.
e39 is really nice.
E36 is simplest, most parts, cheapest parts. 97-98 E39 uses simple E36 engine, but not as many or as cheap parts available for the E39. E39 is a great driver, though. Later 530i had nice motor but more complex dual vanos and more delicate aluminum block. E46 also uses versions of the dual vanos motor. A 330i is a decent car. Good aftermarket support, more modern than the E36. Tough choice. I used to go from my 99 E36M3 to my 99 E39 528i and think the E39 was a much nicer and more comfortable car but not as fast and less road feel. E46 is sort of in between.
What is your budget? E36M3 seem over priced now. E39 530i is a great car, but less aftermarket mod support than E46. For E46, I'd look at 330i 6 speed models or ideally E46 M3.
late 330i, for sure.

You posted about 3 different cars with the intentions to modify them in wildly different ways.
Why not figure out what you really want in a car, then buy whichever car fits that idea the most? If you want a drift car, buy the car that would be best for drifting, if you want a luxury cruiser buy an E39, if you want to "stance the f out of something" then buy a Lexus, etc...
