I need you bmw sherlocks!!!!
So i was changing the serpentine belts on my car today.
After i was done i got excited and tried to go for a drive....then with a bang i remembered that it was still on the jack.
The car fell down on the jackstand and made a dent in the sill (right behind the jacking point.
The car seemed fine and i went for a drive.
When i came back the car would not turn off. The engine would not die until i turned the lights off. I could take the key out of the ignition with the car still running, and shut it off by turning the light switch.
Other electrical problems were also there such as:
-Could not turn off low beams
-Error code saying "tail light failure"
-DAB radio not working (FM did)
Tried disconnecting the battery(with no luck).
Would really appreciate some help on this one!
Could it be the ignition sylinder? bad grounding? electrical shorts? Dont understand why it happened right after my little accident though :/
Maybe the alarm went off and messed everything up or something?
You need a new ignition switch.
Are you sure? thats what i would think too but can it really have broken just from that little fall? seems unlikely
