Made a best of 609 rwhp and 580 lbs rwtq on a Dynojet in SAE. But if you really will be at stock compression and limited to 350-400 rwhp for a few years, Id get a turbo that is more responsive in that range. Responsive turbos are a lot of fun in daily driving.
I kind of came to the same conclusion on my own, it's a little too much turbo for my power goals right now. I read (besides Raji's post above) that they were a relatively quick spooling compressor. Is that not the case when running at the lower psi levels that i'll be limited to? Thank you for the feed back, I'm still wrapping my head around all the different options.

A 600 rwhp turbo run at 400 rwhp wont be as quick spooling as a 400 rwhp turbo run at 400 rwhp.

But a 600 whp turbo will make 600 whp when you want it.

    And you will want it.

I agree, 400 whp is for rainy days.

If I ever get off my ass maybe i'll be able to show what a BW turbo could do with the proper setup. Yes it probably won't be a quick hit but i'm sure it could be pretty reasonable with twinscroll + proper turbine housing.

^^I am going to dyno my s256 again this fall when its not 100+ degrees outside at 20psi.

Im confident I will get 550whp from this 56mm turbo. Hell, 463 whp at 13.8psi with a tiny exhaust and a base tune not bad at all for a 56mm turbo.

Avee runs an 362fmw with all the right parts except open mani. He posted a dyno late last year or early this year.

That will be the turbo I run if I get onto the new steed top 20 list!

Avee's turbo is laggy on an AR Design twin scroll top mount manifold compared to my GTX3582R on an open T4 Steedspeed manifold. I'm talking street pulls, not Dyno sheets.

I would look at the newer version of what he has, the 8376 aka S362SX-E. It uses the EFR8374 compressor and housing.

Any 3xx frame will be laggy on our motors no matter the setup, that's just a huge turbo and rated for 750+ probably more with the meth setups that everyone uses. So big turbine wheel + journal bearings ='s some sacrifice in your spoolup. More often than not though you will be able to push a BW past its "rated" Hp because of that. Also that AR Design manifold i believe has some pretty long runners which is great for some serious HP... not so much snappy spool.

Avee has down graded (power wise) to a Porsche GT3, his car just sits there waiting for him to play with it.

Precision has a great range of sizes for 400-600 rwhp. 5858, 6062, 6262.

Yes, im well aware that is more than likely going to happen. But 400whp will keep me smiling for a while. Hopefully long enough to get a long block set up for real boost. If i can get a year out of it without blowing it up, That will give me time to build the engine.

id love to get into a 5858, a new one is just slightly out of budget. Maybe it's time to liquidate some parts im not using to raise the ceiling on the budget....

Looks like theres a slight change of plans. I will be pulling the head and installing a cut ring HG and ARP studs. Long story short; i must have burnt up the exhaust valves doing some pulls last night with a buddy. All of a sudden the car felt down on power, and developed a slight miss at idle. Got home, checked a few things.... 100psi cyl #1. 130psi cylinder #2. 30-40% leak down in those two. All other cylinders 220-230psi and under 10% leak down. Its going right past the exhaust valves.

At least now its going to get done right and i wont be limited to a wimpy 12psi. It sucks because this was not in the budget, and i was about to pull the trigger on a nice turbo kit.

Sorry for stealing your thread title DA Imfamous. Ill change the title when i get to a real computer.
