I'm currently 15 and turning 16 in a couple months. I'm primarily gonna drive my dad's 2007 BMW 3.0si to get a job but I'll sometimes drive his 1982 e21 320 (it was his first car) or his 2001 e39 540. I'm wanting to save up around $10,000 and would love an e36 or e46 M3 (a manual of course). What would you think I should get?

Does your budget include costs for insurance/maintenance, or will that be picked up by your parents?
It sounds like your father is an enthusiast, what does he think?
Not so much a signature as a cry for help.
Hold on, saw this in a cartoon once...think I can pull it off.
E46M3 but make a deal with your father that he will fix the vanos, rear subframe, rod bearings and transmission and anything else costing over $500. And that he will adopt me and treat me the same as you.

Quit being a tool. I was once there too, 15 and just starting to drive. Most of the people on here were very rude to me when I asked for some advice. I'm still driving my dad's old 97 328i and will be buying it from him when I finish college.

However, my recommendation is to get a Non-M E36 and start there. You will have plenty of money left over for other things and your insurance will be cheaper as well.
Chances are you will need to replace these if you go this route, M or non-M obviously:
control arm bushings
RTAB's
Full Suspension
RSM's
Tie Rods
Valve Cover Gasket
Trans fluid
Diff fluid
Motor mounts
These are just a few..
