I would like to build a GT40 either from one of the chassis and body reproductions offered. A talk with Phoenix Performance's Joe Aquilante and a seller of a V12 engine on ebay revealed it would fit. The issue was not the length but the height which could be resolved.
Has anybody transplanted a V12 into another car. I know it was done into a Lotus Esprit (this would be my 2nd choice as I like the handling of the Lotus). Most of the GT40 repos use a Porsche transmission. Has anybody mated a BMW V12 to a Porsche transaxle?
I would do a Lamborghini again (Miura & Countach) but prices are unrealistically high. The BMW V12s are plentiful and readily available.

Only Two outcomes... epic or epic fail.
There is a guy on the e38 section of this board who is doing an amazing build of a C3 Corvette with an M73 V12 from an e38.
A quick google search will find the BMW V12, especially the early M70 put into many things.
Current fleet:
1999 BMW e36 M3
1999 BMW e36 328is with rotary valve engine head
1999 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight
1990 Jeep Comanche Eliminator
1962 Austin Healey Sprite
Check with Kennedy Engineered Products. They have adapters for a few other BMW engines to Porsche transaxles, and might be able to make one for the V12.

BMW - where "Why doesn't everybody build cars the way they do?" meets "Why can't they build a car the same way everyone else does it?"
