2011 535xi. 19" was stock, can I just buy 18" and swap them out?

I have a 2011 535xi with the sport package. It came with 19" wheels and run flat tires. I had the tire insurance package (thank god). I have been through over 30 tires and 3 or 4 wheels. Unfortunately my tire insurance expired after 5 years.

So, I need a solution or I have to sell this car. I am thinking I go to 18" wheels and tires. I figure that extra inch in the side wall will help a lot.

Can i just go to my dealer, buy the stock 18" BMW wheels and put them on? Will they fit? Did the sport package have different offsets or clearances?

Any help on this issue will be deeply appreciated. The dealer is useless and cannot answer the question. Hell they do not want to even sell me the wheels due to liability.

If i cannot solve this problem this is the last BMW I ever own after being with this brand since 1974 and my 2002.

    Thanks in advance.

You can run 17 or 18s. Our 08 535xit sport package came with 18s and we could have bought optional 19s. You can change. We run 17s with snows in winter. I would not run 19s even if they look cool and handle sharply for the reasons you have experienced - expensive, rough ride, more prone to damage. Buy a set of Apex ARC8 17s or 18s. As long as the tire circumference is within a few percent and the wheels clear the brakes, you can run other sizes. Load rating is also important but you wont be deviating enough for that to be an issue.
