When some loser crashed his BMW and makes it in the news. Media always indicate BMW instead of just "vehicle" or a "car".Yavapai County sheriff's deputies say they arrested a suspected drunken driver whose passenger was impaled when his BMW crashed into a chain-link fence early Wednesday.
Ryan Matson, of Cornville, was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Facility on suspicion of failure to remain at an accident scene, DUI, endangerment and criminal damage, according to a Sheriff's Office statement.
Authorities say Matson, upon realizing his passenger had been impaled by a fence post, drove his 2007 BMW Z3 convertible to the nearby Verde Valley Fire Department, parked outside and ran away.
Sensationalist journalism feeding off stereotypes
Also, 2007 Z3... lol

Do you think they should name all other makers but leave BMW out of it?
Not so much a signature as a cry for help.
Hold on, saw this in a cartoon once...think I can pull it off.
In most articles I see it's pretty common to identify the car by the brand. eg
http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/crim...es-in-taurangaThe Toyota was allegedly being steered with vice grips.
http://abc30.com/news/high-speed-cra...rdino/1266340/Two people were killed Monday morning after a Honda Civic traveling more than 100 mph crashed into a Mustang in a San Bernardino intersection.
I suspect that you are experiencing the Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon which is why it's more noticeable to you when a BMW is mentioned versus another brand.

I've never noticed but if I would have I would say it's because people automatically assume if you drive a BMW you have a lot of money.... so they should know better or whatever....
One day when my son was with me, I pointed out how differently I was treated in the BMW. Catching up to cars, they speed up. They take off harder from a light, drive faster, or even try to hold you up. He agreed. Still not sure why.

I dunno. When I go to pass someone on a single lane highway they speed up no matter what I drive. The difference is when I'm in my bmw it doesn't matter.
