Hi
Completed a suspension and steering refresh yesterday on the 2.0L Z3.
Fitted Meyle:
- Rear shocks
- RSM
- Front Struts
- Top Hats
- Both control arms
- Left Tie rod (right was replaced a couple of months ago)
Car drives beautifully.
Only problem is the top hat dust caps don't fit. The ones I have are the correct BMW part (1139453) and are 32 mm round. The Meyle top hat hole is 34 mm tapering to 33 mm. The taper defeats my attempts to pad out the dust cap with tape.
Others must have had the same problem. What have you found to work?
Regards

This cap fits over the whole strut mount snap connecting to the 3 studs, it is used on the E36 M3 and looks very nice on the Z3.

Would this solution work for you? These are Z8 strut tower caps, which fit the Z3. (Some people have reported them needing minor trimming underneath, but they worked as is for me). Pic is from Google as posted long ago on Roadfly. Would have used my own, but they don't photograph as well with a black car.

Price is a few times higher than it used to be.

They say M only, but I'm not sure.

I have the strong strut large kit that came with the caps. The caps supplied are not the Z8 caps (USA manufacturing markings and no BMW numbers). They are about 1/8" too small to lock in to the strut tower opening correctly.
Have ordered the Z8 caps
Thank you for the good information on this topic.
