I'll pass the those two automatics. Thanks though. Looking for lower miles.

Man, you're not gonna have an easy time finding one with less than 100k miles, almost every M-Sport has over 100k miles now unless you want to pay like $30k.
Plus getting a low mileage 540i is no guarantee of a trouble-free experience. I can almost guarantee that you'll still have plenty of problems with a 60k mile 540i. There's no such thing as a maintenance-free E39.

The miles as long as their not to much over 100,000 is fine.. I just want most if not all of the major maintenance done.
When I've sold a Bmw I always make to its well sorted before I sell it so the next person can enjoy it for a while before worrying about maintenance.

6 speed or an automatic -M Sport .
I think people get wrapped up in the mileage too much, especially when talking about BMWs. There are plenty of E39's out there with well north of 200k running strong. You've simply got to find a car that has a good history of preventative maint and common issues addressed. Sometimes that means a car with 120k because everything has surfaced and been remedied. My M Sport is getting ready to roll 100k and I think back to when it had 80k. If someone had bought it then because of "low mileage", what a basket case it would turn out to be. I would argue my car now with everything addressed, and documentation to prove it, is worth much more than one with 80k and nothing. I've got over $4,500 in just parts receipts (because I DIY), paying labor would mean five figures. Just be careful with your purchase is all I'm saying. Mileage isn't the biggest factor.

Ehhh It doesn't matter when you buy these there's always something that needs to be fixed around the corner (valley pan, ccv, osv, suspension refresh, chain guides) I'm at the point where I feel like unless you buy these at 60k or less you're better off saving your money and finding a high mile well maintained and documented 540 that already had the guides done.
Interesting!

Just buy my car, much faster than a 540i MSport, far more sorted and many times more reliable :-)

Hi Solido423, I have a Black 2003 540i Auto M-Tech with 75k. I've owned the car for 4 years and I'm the third owner. I found it in FL after a long search and had it shipped back to Seattle and it's been an amazing car. I've had a number of E39's a 2002 540i and a 2003 M5, this is by far may favorite. I have all the service records, the tires are brand new, just had an oil change and a complete inspection at Seattle BMW so I know all of the current issues. It's at the dealership getting the front passenger window mechanism fixed but I should have it back today or tomorrow and be able to take pictures. No mods except line into stereo so I'm able to listen to music on iPhone via USB, otherwise all original. IMHO it's probably one of the cleanest low mile original E39 540's out there. Haven't really thought to seriously about selling until now so haven't done a lot of research on price but would be interested in hearing opinions. Can post some photos as soon as I get the car back.
I'm looking at this one...
