    M30b35 intake manifold gaskets

    Hi everyone,

I bought some new intake manifold gaskets for my 735 and I was wondering is there some sort of guidance to remove the intake manifold only? From what I looked at it, it seems I can do so without removing the head. The Bentley manual really only talks about it in conjunction with removing the head. Seems pretty straightforward but I want a little more help.

You're right. It is straight forward. You do not need to remove the head. Here are four pics of the M30 manifold from all sides so you can see what you're dealing with. The last picture shows you where each of the four hoses connect. Before you pull the manifold make sure you remove these four hoses. Two vacuum hoses from the top of the fuel regulator and the T-connector coming out of the boot as well as the hoses from the Idle control valve and the purge valve. The rest is straight forward. Don't forget you have a plastic hook on one of the center screws holding the main radiator hose so it doesn't flop around. You don't want to crack that little thing. You can reach under and feel it before you start. Good luck..........Jeff PS...I was just thinking, if you're only replacing the gaskets you may not have to remove these hoses, just make sure they don't come off while you're doing the job. Just that they remain in place. I was thinking before as that you were replacing the manifold. Good time to make sure your vacuum hoses are indeed connected.

Take your time and post us a nice picture when it's complete. Don't forget to disconnect the throttle body from the manifold. You'll need a new gasket for that as well when you're done.
