Need help fonding rare/old engine and trans

O I'm looking at purchasing a 1958 bmw 501, problem is there is no engine and Trans mission in this rust bucket.

I have patience to do the body work, interior and rust control down to the frame, but not if I don't have a engine and Trans to put in it at the end of the day. I've thought about a backup plan of swapping a s52/4 and 5/6spd manual in it but I would feel bad doing that. Anyone have any leads or ideas where to start looking for these old bones?

There are two motor options, both v8's. One was the m337 was a 2.6l v8 (true baby v8) and the other a 3.2l v8 introduced in 1955. I don't car which motor I use but it needs to be mostly complete with both the shaft from the engine to Trans, and from the Trans to wheels along with Trans itself (4spd not directly mounted to engine).

I know this stuff will be hard to find so I figured I'd start here. Maybe there is a guy that has been holding on to a couple of these cars or a lot of parts for them for a really long time that is finally deciding to let some of them go? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cool car, but I have no idea where to even start looking for parts from that vintage. Maybe start with an E3 group or something as they are a pretty large group and tend to be very knowledgable about who has parts and where to get long-NLA bits for their cars, maybe they can help you find something.
