joined these forums because lately ive been thinking of buying my first bmw and i have some questions.
to start off, the car i have in mind is a 2000 323i. i have about a 6k budget and ive seen plenty nice well taken care of cars for around this price but before i buy my biggest question is how much it costs to maintain one of these? will it spend more time in the garage/shop than on the road? what are some good choices in after market parts such as coilovers because i do plan on lowering the car. any advice is appreciated please share!

You would probably get more traction on the E46 sub-forum. Check it out and read any FAQ pages--you will learn a lot. To answer your question, a car that has been maintained should not be in the shop all the time, one that hasn't will make you go broke. Have a Pre-Purchase Inspection done on any BMW you are thinking of buying, especially a $6K BMW (I speak from experience!).
