    08 m3

Ok this up coming Friday I will be purchasing a 08 m3 . I've done lots of research and I can't seem to find why people sell m3 at 75k miles I see alot of them . The one I'm thinking of buy has 78k , auto , 2 door non convertible , with a warranty ..

My question is what should I be looking for and this is my first m3 also newbie on this forum . So I'm sure I'll get the common use the search button

My 08M3 has 72k. Bought it CPO six years ago. Still enjoying it. Done a bunch of preventative maintenance and routine maintenance, but very little repairs. One TPS failed, one low pressure fuel sensor failed, and one of my throttle actuators is going. I did the rod bearings as preventative maintenance. Best place for E9xM3 tech is m3post.

Yeah it wouldn't let me sign up for the m3post .. how much was the rod bearing ? What should I look for when it comes to the bearing ? Sound ? Visual ?

Everyone wishes there was some reliable test or symptom to watch for on the rod bearings, but there is not. Parts are $500 to $1000 depending on what you buy and labor is $1500 to $2000 depending on the rate. I did it myself so I just bought the parts.

You would hope but some claims have been denied because servicing was not done, redline was exceeded, etc. Only a few percent of cars have failed but it would be bad if yours was among them.

Many oil caps look milky underneath from condensation, particularly in winter, but that is not a sign the oil is bad or that there is a head gasket issue. Anyway, hope you enjoy the M3. I have had my 08 for 5 years and 40k miles and still like it.

Oic yeah I've never seen oil look like that under the cap so didn't want to take a chance but it was nice to drive thou . After 5 years well that's a good sign I've never owned a car longer then year or 2 I get bored . But i think this one might be the one .
