I recently bought a 2008 135i and love the car. Its my 3rd BMW. I have a problem with the xenon adaptive light though. The passenger side low beam is not as bright as the divers side. I replaced the xenon light bulb-still the same. So I took it to the local BMW dealership and of course they indicated that I need a new light assembly cost $1,700.00. This was a lot so I decided to try to problem solve. I swapped the xenon light bulb from the drivers side-no change. I changed the module-no change. I bought a used light assembly on ebay-it was damaged. After spending several hours on this issue. My buddy who works on BMW's and i figured it out. The flap in the xenon light which allows more light through is not functioning properly. Has anyone else had this issue with the xenon lights? Now if I take it to the BMW dealership (a different one), will programming/calibrating this xenon light fix the issue or am I going to have to get a whole new assembly? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like the projector assembly is broken. I'm not sure how to take these lights apart but if its anything like other BMWs you will need to bake them open to get them apart to take a look at the internals. May be repairable but I wouldn't count on it.
