    Coolant question

Am new to world of BMW and I was wondering if my 04 325xi should run cool, the temp gauge never went to the 12:00 position, it is 30 degrees here, the coolant is full and bled and I do get heat, any help would be appreciated thanks

Temp needle should rise to vertical after driving for about 15 minutes regardless of outside temp. If it's not, then the t-stat is likely stuck open.

Did a test just now in town the needle goes to vertical, but out at highway speed the needle falls back to about 10:00 position

OP, Google "BMW E46 hidden obc functions." Test #7 will show you the temperature seen by the ECU. After 15 minutes of driving it should read between 95*C to 100*C. If it's below that the thermostat is failing. Replace it with one made by either Walher or Behr. DO NOT INSTALL AFTERMARKET COOLING SYSTEM PARTS.

Today I drove the car and had the coolant temp (7) on the dash and it only got to 54 degrees thanks Marco, time for a coolant rebuild
