Okay im looking at options on a new car for me and one of the options for the interior instead of leather is this sensatec leatherette stuff.I have no clue what it looks like or feels like or is it just a complex word for clothe interior and its much cheaper then real leather is it worth it to get it and save the money ?Also what the heck is the difference between Black Sapphire Metalic paint and just jet black paint and is the metalic worth the extra money ??Any suggestions will help.
is this the leatherette used in the bimmers? Its not cloth, its a fancy word for vinyl.
if so, I have it. And when ever people get in my car, they compliment me on my leather, and can't believe its leatherette when I tell them. It stays better through the years (mine still looks new) and is easier to maintain. And it doesn't look bad. Leather does look better, but I don't mind, my leatherette looks and feels just fine. After spending time in my car, my sister who used to really want leather in her car, decided she’d prefer leatherette.
black sapphire is a metallic black IMO it is totally worth the extra money. Go to your dealership and ask them to show you jet black and sapphire in the sun, I think you would agree. Also, while you are there, look at some leatherette interiors and see if you like it.

I've heard great things about the leatherette as well; as SilverBeam said, it lasts longer and looks nearly as good.

4 years and 27k miles on my 00 328Ci and the leather on the side bolsters of my drivers seat (sport package) are starting to wear, everything else looks pretty good, but that could be the fact that the car hasn't been used that much. I haven't decided if leather actually is worth the money, but if you want a 0 maintanence interior go for the leatherette. Don't know what to say about the black choices since im not exactly a fan of black to begin with
Are you selling the car in your sig or just adding another to the collection?

I have leatherette too, and none of my seats are worn. It's a '98.
Does is look similar to leather or does it look like a vinyl?Originally Posted by myavus318ti
looks exactly and feel exactly like leather, it never wears, it's easy to clean (damp cloth) and cheaper than leather. In other words, it's awesome.

Sorry, Brent! Forgive Me (you did call my car a wannabe M3 though)
i had leatherette in my previous 3er- I bought it thinking it was real leather lol- not one person I ever had in the car didn't think it was real leatherOriginally Posted by e46Freako
and after 8 years it still looked nearly brand new, as compared to leather which after 3 years starts looking worn
I was checking out a new x3 last week, and I again thought it had leather, but was informed it was leatherette(it was a definite improvement over the previous version/generation)- felt and looked even more real.
