    E60 with CIC upgrade 2008 - Airplay/Miracast Mod help!

    Hi All,

    first post so go easy!!!

    I recently bought a 2008 535d m-sport, absolute dream of a car! the previous owner has done a lot to it (and in a good way ) including updating to the newer I-drive (CIC) so better screen, hard drives etc. one of the really hand things he did was install a Airplay/Miracast box, that connects to the Screen to Mirror and also the audio through the Aux. Perfect as I have a IPhone 6 and there is no cradle for it plus the standard spec doesn't support A2DP, which is annoying!

    However since the update to Ios9 and the change in Airplay protocols it no longer works........and before anybody says it no I don't want a Android

    SO my question is this;

    1) in principle is going to be easy to swap out this box (I believe its this one http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/manufactories-Mobile-Phone-Navigation-box-mirror_60120461531.html ) and replace with a new one in which case recommendations would be very welcome.
    2) is there a way of activating/installing A2DP in the standard I-drive (It has Bluetooth connection for telephone calls etc).

    Any help greatly appreciated;

    PS I am reasonably competent but also don't want to do anything to complex that might completely screw everything up.

    I am in the UK and its a UK spec car (I don't know if that makes any difference)

    Hi,

    Do speak to a few places like this

    http://www.cartronix.co.uk/
    http://www.carcommunications.co.uk/
    http://www.cartronics.co.uk/index.cfm

    Look to the UK centric http://forum.bmw5.co.uk/ forum to see what other E60 owners are doing!

    Also, look into doing the OEM NBT retrofit, its cool, but also the most expensive option.

    Cheers, Dennis!

    Thanks Dennis,

    Will look into that, would love to do a NBT retrofit, luckily he has done the CIC fit already. Will do some research, dont suppose you know what kind of ball park figure a good retrofit would be?

    You need to install a BMW COMBOX if you want to do music streaming
    Average price is around 250-350 GBP installed.

    Assuming they understood you correctly, they are really having a joke.

    Part brand new is about 300 euros from Germany (A little bit from your local dealer).

    BMW Part number : 84109257160 - Combox media

    You will also need plug adapters assuming your car already has BT from factory.

    Then it will need to be coded along with your CIC and that's it. Plenty of coders in the UK, check bmwcoding.com

    Thanks for that, although in the list of vehicles underneath it doesn't list the E60, does that mean its not compatible or am I missing something.

    Really appreciate the help,

    No that means the Combox was never made available on the E60 since the CIC in those cars was only available for about 1 year then the F10 came out.
    Combox works just fine with the CIC in the E60.
