Hello Bimmer Bros, I'm looking to buy a bimmer for my lady since she loved my b, and despratley wants to own one. We have found a good looking e36 and we took a look at it, the car sounds fine but I have yet to test drive it. Any opinions on what to look out for? Price range? Thanks.

Check out the e36 section
It looks pretty ragged out to me. Interior is trashed, and it has body damage and missing molding. The door cards don't look like they're right for the car, and they've been taken off and not re-installed properly. The whole thing just looks beat up, pulled apart, and thrown back together. When someone spray paints bottle caps, it's usually indicative of a low dollar upkeep and maintenance approach (as evident by the condition of the car). You can expect that to extend to the mechanical condition of it.
$2800 isn't a lot of money, and E36's are pretty cheap. But if it were me, i'd wait around for a nicer one, even if you have to pay more for it. The more expensive car usually always winds up being the cheapest in the long run.
That's also a bad color for a daily driver. Black exterior shows every imperfection and every scratch, piece of dirt, dust etc. Light colored interiors show dirt very easily. You'd generally want the opposite.
I'd keep looking. But if you're interested in a restoration project, I support people buying cars like this to bring them back up to speed.
